Subject: Favorite "ALF" memories
This was one of my favorite Live Action shows of the 80's,
I never saw the animated Alf.
How was it different.?
I wish I had a VCR to record the Alf episodes back then
Subject: Re: Favorite "ALF" memories
Never saw the animated series, but I used to watch the tv show just to catch sight of the daughter ;D and ham radio setup the father had in the garage.
Subject: Re: Favorite "ALF" memories
When the series got cancelled. ;D
Subject: Re: Favorite "ALF" memories
I was really young when Alf was on, so I don't remember it that well, but I thought it was funny when Alf would always try to catch the housecat so he could eat it. I am pleased to say that I was a proud owner of an Alf coloring book in the 80s! :)

That's one series I never liked. I thought "ALF" was freaky looking too.
Subject: Re: Favorite "ALF" memories
The cartoon version of "Alf", forgot title since I didn't & still don't like "Alf", poked fun of fairy tales. Like the parodies on "Rocky & Bullwinkle".
The show & the cartoon was corny.
And looked more like an aardvark than an alien. :P

...Alf thinking up ways to eat the family's cat :)
Subject: Re: Favorite "ALF" memories
I never watched the show on a regular basis but I caught it every now and again. A couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine said that Joe Leiberman sounds like the father in that show. I think she is right and now, whenever I hear Joe Leiberman, I think of Alf. (I bet all of you do from now on, too. ;))

Joe Lieberman looks like something from Dr. Seuss! And, oh, that voice! Did you hear him refer to his "momentum" as
"Joe-mentum." Sheesh, it reminds me of when the late Senator Paul Simon was running in '88. "With Paul Simon, what you see is what you get, and that's why I where the boooooow tiiie." OK, that was an SNL skit, but it captured the essence. Anyway, enough of this digression.

My favorite ALF memory was when it went off the air!

Except now he's back on those abominable long-distance service commercials. Carrot Top and Terry Bradshaw were bad enough, but Alf, SHEESH! :P

In the early days, wasn't Alf a beer drinking rowdy? I heard the show became a hit to the younger crowd that they were advised to tame down his beer guzzling on tv. ???

Yeah, that was why I got disgusted with it. I remember the pilot, which introduced Alf as sort an anti-E.T. He was ugly, wisecracking, ribald, cat-eating, and beer drinking. :D The next thing you know, they've made him just another Muppet. :(

The TV movie in 1996...
Subject: Re: Favorite "ALF" memories
Wow the replies have been unflattering, Alf is one of my favorite shows, The chemistry between Alf and Willie is great! I guess the nice memory I have of the show was the 1987 Christmas special where Alf becomes friends with a girl in the hospital dying of terminal illness on Christmas Eve. Some of the scenes actually bring me to tears. Anyway I'm waiting for the complete first season of Alf to be released on DVD.

He never got to actually eat the cat.He came close though in one of the episodes.

ALF was one of the few shows I actually watched as a kid. Between myself, my younger sister, and two of my cousins, we'd all get together on Monday nights to watch ALF together, each of us clutching our 16" plush ALFs. I've still got a bunch of old ALF stuff, couldn't bear to part with it. I have an entire set of trading cards, my 16" plush, all four hand puppets that Burger King put out, some coloring books, and I think a jigsaw puzzle. ;D

He never gotten to eat the cat.He shoulda slaughtered the cat and maim Lucky.maybe they could've made an episode out of that. ???

My fav was when Alf recorded his own song: "take a look at me and tell me what you see, just another pretty face?"
Subject: Re: Favorite "ALF" memories
How about the episode where Alf went on a blind date and this girl was actually blind but could not understand that Alf was an ALIEN LIFE FORM. ???

The ALF music video was great!! My cousin still has that one on tape...
Another memorable episode was when he electrocuted himself in the bathtub while reading some insurance information and believed he was that insurance agent. It turned into one of those "flashback" episodes.

Alf, now there is a character i haven't heard of for a very, very long time, i used to love Alf he was cool.
I still have the Alf cuddly toy, i will never ever part with it, it is the key to so many of my happy childhood memories of the great 80s
Subject: Re: Favorite "ALF" memories
I think my favorite episode was a Thanksgiving episode where there was a derilict old man lurking around out by the garage. He saw Alf and called the government, but when he got to know Alf he told them he had lied, etc.
Subject: Re: Favorite "ALF" memories
How about the episode where Miss Ochmoneck sees him for the very first time and calls her husband to do something about it? ;D
