Subject: When Metal Ruled The World
Anyone see When Metal Ruled The World on VH1 yesterday? What a great show. Really brings back alot of really happy memories. Vince Niel summed it up when he said we played music that made people happy. I didn't like Grunge when it came out and I still don't. Who wants to listen to people sing about how much life can suck when everyone knows life sucks.

I saw it. It was very cool. Brought back alot of memories. I was more into the hair/pretty boy bands. (Poison, Warrant, Etc) But they did a great documentary on it.

It was a great special, though I also like "grunge".
BTW, many artists from the '60's/'70's also wrote about the realities of what was going on of that time.
Well, I like to admit that '80's hairbands were more fun compared to '90's grunge. And most of their music videos are 100% better and worth watching than "Smells Like Teen Spirit", IMO.
Heck, even Kurt Cobain, late lead singer of Nirvana, didin't like the video. Not trying to chose favorites. I prefer both. :)
Though I also like listening to Def Leppard, Faster Pussycat, Kix, Motley Crue, Guns N' Roses, Poison, and Bon Jovi. 8)

i wish i seen it.
i never liked grunge as a whole, just a few songs. i'm going through my own personal 80s metal revival now, i DLed a lot of old songs that i never got and i recently went through my old tape collection. my scorpians greatest hits was damaged somehow...i loved that tape.

I remember when I went thru my "hairband/poser" phase. I loved listening to bands like Bon Jovi, Poison, Guns N Roses, Whitesnake, Winger, Damn Yankees, Cinderella, Great White, Def Leppard, Warrant, Skid Row, etc... ;D
The ONLY thing I liked about grunge was the band Nirvana...the rest sucked... ::)

Wonderful show, wish it had run two hours and had more interviews with other artists.I miss the "hair bands". :)

Too bad it didn't concentrate on quality of music, but rather the bullcrap antics that went with it. Randy Rhodes is rolling in his grave.

Unfortunately, that was part and parcel of the whole scene.

I recently bought "'80's Hard Rock" & "Pop Metal" on DVD.
From the "Essential Music Videos" series.
Some were great and a couple a bit cheesy, but worth watching.
Recently saw/taped "Cherry Pie" (Warrant) from "MTV2 Most Controversial Videos" special. 8)
VH1 Classic also plays their videos.

Eh? Motley Crue did 3 albums in the 90s and were touring up until late 2000. There's even been talk of them reforming and going out on tour again. What's Axl doing these days should be the question.

From what Ive heard Axl has permanent damage his vocal cords. He probably wont be able to sing like he did ever again.

That's what happens when you sing through your nose instead of from your diaphragm

I personal liked heavy metal but wasnt all a hard-core fan but I liked it I saw the Vh1 special they made heavy metal into this Roman empire-ick thing like it was ruling the world literally and its decline was tragic if you catch my drift, it was all true but im glad the heavy metal eras over because it was just so good I think it should be left alone and be remembered in their past cds.
