Woops, In that one list of 20 songs you a real cross section of music. You have your raido pop, Hair Band rock, Hip-Hop/Dance & of corse Modern Rock. To me that's what made the 80's so specail. I could find any style of music to fit my mood and it would all be cool. We don't have that today. They seem to want to force one style down our throats as if we can't like more than one style of music at a time.

You guys are seriously the FIRST ones I've heard about that don't like that song, even my "hiphop-gangsta rap-modern music-listening" friends like it, people that normally HATE anything with an eighties label.  :)

Well, it's my favourite 80's song of all time, and I've heard em all.  ;)

These are ones I liked a lot too.  Another big radio hit from 1987 was Benjamin Orr (RIP) "Stay the Night," which I always enjoyed hearing. :)

What about Rock Steady by The Whispers? I remember hearing that when I was young. That was a cool song. Wasnt "Love You Down" by Ready For The World a hit in 87?
"I want Her" by Keith Sweat was cool too.

Ready for the World!  I didn't know they hits other than "Oh Sheila!"
"It's like I always say, what's good for the goose is always good for the gander. OH SHEILA!"  What was with that Robin Leach accent in the beginning.
Remember a similar group, The Force MDs?

"Paint a Vulgar Picture," now there's a great Smiths song not usually cited!

Ready For the World also had a hit with "Digital Display"  as well. "Love You Down" was also covered in the 90's(1998)by an artist named INOJ. Not sure about the Robin Leach thing.

Force MD's had a hit with "Tender Lover" in 1986 I believe. I like 80's Pop/R&B music. I think Force MD's had other hits too but I'm not sure.

It just sounded like Robin, wasn't Robin himself.  Now, Robin Leach did do a voiceover on the Thomas Dolby song, "The Key to Her Ferrari."  Says Robin, "There was one room in the house that was always locked: the garage."
Another Robin Leach sound-alike is on ABC's "How to be a Millionaire."  The refrain is "Tell me, tell me, HOW TO BE a millionaire..."  The accent comes in on HOW TO BE.

I don't know if I'm perfectly accurate in saying these songs came out in 1987, but my top songs from then are:

1. Citizen Jane - Bernie Taupin
2. Kane Gang - Motortown
3. T'Pau - Heart and Soul
4. Rockmelons - Rhymes
5. U2 - With or Without You
6. Deacon Blue - Real Gone Kid
7. Wax - Bridge to Your Heart
8. Pet Shop Boys - What Have I Done to Deserve This?
9. Icehouse - Great Southern Land
10. New Order - True Faith
11. Breakfast Club - Right on Track
12. George Michael - Faith
13. INXS - Need You Tonight + Mediate
14. Bruce Hornsby - Every Little Kiss

Those first three are probably some of my favorite songs of all time.
