Subject: Cover Song or Original Artist?
I have a very old cassette of Alvin & the Chipmunks. They were known for releasing albums of cover songs in the 80s (such as this one), but there are 2 songs on my copy that I'd never heard of before I got it - and still haven't anywhere else.
These 2 songs are called "Diamond Dolls", and "The Girls of Rock 'N' Roll". Does anybody know if they're covers, or are they written by the creators of Alvin & the Chipmunks? ???
P.S. Diamond Dolls is not a remake of David Bowie's "Diamond Dogs".

Awww!, it isn't? Alvin covering Bowie, I could dig it. The best Bowie song for Alvin & The Chipmunks would be "Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)." I'd buy THAT fer a dollar!

Update: For those that may know more about songwriters.
Diamond Dolls
(Alexander/Weiss)
The Girls of Rock 'n' Roll
(Levy/Shaddick)
Do those surnames ring any bells in anyone's heads?

And yes, some David Bowie would sound pretty cool in Chipmunk mode, hehe. The Jean Genie would be perfect. ;D

Could be songwriters Marcy Levy and Terry Shaddick
Levy co-wrote "Lay Down Sally" (Eric Clapton, 1978-)
Shaddick co-wrote "Physical" (Olivia Newton John, 1981)
They both co-wrote songs for the following

Oh, darn, I can't get the link to connect. >:( Anyway, the album was by soul singer Geno Washington, "That's Why Hollywood Loves Me!" (1979)
It would take some googling around on your part to see what else!
"Sufregette City" for Alvin, too, perhaps? ;)

I'm glad you mentioned Google (I should've thought of it before), because I searched for one of the song titles and found the lyrics! Still doesn't tell me anything about its origin though, hehehe. But still, got the lyrics. :)

Maybe now people can look at the lyrics to see if it sounds familiar to them. ;)

I can so hear Alvin singing "Wham, bam, thank you ma'am!" ;D
