I was watching greatest fueds on vh1 lol and like..I would hafta say, imo, that david lee roth looked better back THEN and Hagar looks better NOW..LOL Roth looks scary..LOL

I agree. DLR looked better back then. But he is still funny! :D SH..he does look better. I recall the 'I Can't Drive 55' video and he had the whitest teeth and dorkiest clothes on. Wan't that a yellow with red trim jumpsuit? Least now he dresses better. :P

Van Hagar Vs. Van Roth. It has to be DLR for me. Hagar wasn't much of a dresser with his SoCal look but then again those outfits DLR wore were pretty outrageous. Nowadays, Roth is just a shell of his former self. :'( Sammy Hagar has aged much better IMO. However, musically,I perfer Roth's tenure with Van Halen.

I love them both but I pick David Lee Roth. I thought they were much heavier with him.

I liked Van Halen better with DLR. I like Sammy, but as a solo act. I didn't like Van Hagar all that much.

Sammy Hagar. Cuz I like more of his songs in Van Halen than David Lee Roth.

Van Halen was far more interesting when David Lee Roth was the frontman; their "Hot for Teacher" video was awesome. Sammy Hagar was fine, but I like his solo stuff better.
PS Has anyone ever heard any of the songs they did during their brief tenure with Gary Cherone (I know he only made one album with them)?

ROTH WAS THE GREATEST - AS A TRUE VAN HALEN FAN - THE BAND WAS RUINED BY THE OPERA STYLE HAGAR ! The way DLR did the screams and oooowwwws was a real treat - Sammy sounded like an opera singer gone mad !

van halen with DLR was more harder, thus better. when hagar took over, van halen went mainstream. they became more popular but they sold their soul to gain that popularity.

Looks aside, even though David Lee Roth is a jerk his musical chemistry with the other band members IS van Halen. The original line up is the one we will all remember when we are 90 years old. Sammy Hagar and the other members made good music together but it wasn't magic like the original.

I once heard a comedian comment on the differences between VH w/ Roth and w/ Hagar and I've always used it ever since.
Roth - "Ain't talkin' 'bout love!"
Hagar - "Why can't this be love?"
I've never been a VH fan but David Lee Roth was (is?) a madman and that get's my vote any day of the week!
