Subject: Icehouse-Electric Blue

Written By: Lanie on 12/19/03 at 08:45 a.m.

Does anyone remember this song? I was wondering if it had a video and what was it about? I remember watching a movie in school and there was a video afterwards(I don't think it had anything to do with the movie) but I'm not sure if it was for this song or not. All I really remember about the video was little children or elves and I think they were blue or something like that. It's been a LONG time since I saw it and it was just that one time. This has been bugging me for a long time so if anyone knows,it would be very appreciated. ;D :D

I looked at Kazaa and haven't found it.  :-/

I remember this song! Awesome awesome one, one of my favorites from the 80s. I don't remember a video for it, though I too have tried searching on Kazaa and no luck. Maybe there wasn't one made, would've been cool if there was.  :-/

I love that song too. What movie was it?

I think it was the movie Watcher In The Woods.  :) The video came on after the movie was over. It might have been a recorded movie with videos after it.  ??? But that video was the only one we got to see. :-/

We didn't have cable back then so I didn't get to watch MTV to see who the group was. :( But thanks for the help. I will also continue to see if I can come up with anything.  ;D

I love this song.  And yes it had a video clip.  Sadly the last time I saw it was when it came out, and I was only little.  So I don't remember it very well.

This is one of the best songs from the 80s.  I just saw the video about a month or so ago on VH1 Classic.  There were no elves or any other mystical creatures in it.  It was basically the band playing, the lead singer was wearing a hat (resembles Michael Hutchence from INXS).  It seems like he was walking through a maze during the video, but wouldn't swear to it.  Good luck finding it!

By the way, if you're interested in the MP3 for Electric Blue, let me know and I will upload it so you can get it from Kazaa.

ewwwwwwwwwwww  gunna disagree with you there - the utterly scrumpsiously delicious exceedingly talented Iva Davies of Icehouse looked nothing like the drug addled Michael Hutchence.

Iva generally made two or even three clips for his videos - he was never entirely satisfied so after one was released he would go back and film another one !

He also would go back into the recording studio and delete all the bits with his band playing - and re record it with himself playing !!

Mr Perfectionist - but a very talented one !!

Hehe - as soon as I saw this topic I knew you would be answering it BMG!  About the clip, I remember one where the band was playing on a rooftop or something, and there were lots of closeups of Iva walking along and then shots of a VERY 80s looking girl (big hair, bad makeup etc).  What I really remember though, is Iva's big bad mullet!!  Am I right BMG? Or did I make all this up?! :)

hahahaha yes that one is ringing a bell Gecko !!!  I think the film clip that showed off the chest length mullett the best was the Mr Big clip !!!!  Chest and mullett !!!!

But Crazy (the first clip not the second) was my all time fave - all filmed in one camera shot - no editing.  In a vacant car park from memory.

OK, I'm just a dude that doesn't pay alot of attention to the intricate details on the male rock idols!   :D

I just remember the curly "mullet gone wild" look that Iva had.  Very close to Michael Hutchence's mullet from INXS' early days.

Personally, I like both bands, but those mullets were king!   ;D

hehehe - ok - you are forgiven for such an indescretion !!!!  :)

yep for about a year there Iva had the longest curliest mullet in all of Aus !!  But he has gone back to his late 70s early 80's short back and sides these days.

Actually - the other "nice" mullet (if there is such a thing !!) of that same year - was Martin Plaze in Mental as Anything.

Oh THANK you, BMG  :D

Finally someone who rates Michael Hutchence (his appearance at least) like I do.

For the record, whilst Electric Blue was a good song, I think it was far from their best.... ;)

While I don't think much of Martins mullet, I used to love the Mentals and I think he has such a smooth voice.

Gotta tell you guys that back in the day when I purchased the cassette version of Icehouse "Man of Colours" it was played over and over. I found the CD version awhile back to replace that tired old tape. Great songs, great music!!!

Alright mtadude65  ;D

I understand from my American contacts you only got a fraction of the good stuff they turned out, that is a real shame.

If you can get your hands on more, try to do so  :D

Hey Fuss, thanks for the heads up on other tracks put out by Icehouse. I guess I have to do some research and try to find some more.

Have a great New Year!!   ;D

Electric Blue is a pretty good song. I also like No Promises and Crazy to name a few.
