Subject: Two short-lived '80s TV faves

OTHERWORLD (1985)
This one was a real turkey, but I was fond of it nonetheless.

Premise: The Sterling family (mom & dad, teenage son & daughter, another young son) end up on another planet ("Thel") via an Egyptian pyramid portal. They can't get back, so they must stay on the run from the Zone Troopers, the thug force for the tyrannical dictator.  The planet is ruled by "The Church of Artificial Intelligence."  The family must find the Signpost Astrologers in the city of Imar, the only ones who can transport them back to Earth.  Anyway, the have all kinds of scary adventures on the bizarre world of Thel.  I wish I could remember the plots of some of the episodes.  I remember one with a motorcycle gang called the "Motorpigs."
"The Church of Artificial Intelligence," "Signpost Astrologers"?
Was this actually "Lost In Space" meets L. Ron Hubbard?

SPENCER/UNDER ONE ROOF (1984)
Not to be confused with Robert Urich in "Spenser for Hire," this was a pubescent teen comedy ala "James at 15."  Exploits of fifteen year old Spencer Winger, who might get laid.  That's just about it.  Title character was originally played by Chad Lowe, who quit in the first season.  Then they cast this other kid, Rossie Harris.  The show also featured Ronny Cox as Spencer's dad.  I know the program's title got changed to "Under One Roof" in its brief two seasons, but IMDB makes no mention.

I only remember the plots of two episodes, one in which Spencer befriends a punk girl at his school who lives in a camper by herself.  The girl turns out to wicked unbalanced and Spencer must try to extricate her from her bad situation.  In the other, Spencer's mom (played by Beverly Archer) is all flustered because her best friend is going to seduce Spencer...or so everyone thinks.

Not exactly top-notch television, but I liked it because I was about that age, and the sexual overtones had some appeal.
