Subject: SONG TITLE
I have a tricky one. I am trying to find a song title for a friend. And she won't even sing it or hum it for me. :( Here is what I have. It is possibly from 1985 or 86 (summer), and contains the lines
"Baby surrender ... we're worlds apart and miles away"
I might be able to get more on singing style, etc.
Thanks,

What about "Never Surrender" Corey Hart?? ???
Subject: Re: SONG TITLE
Never Surrender would not be the song. She knows her 80's music too well.
Thanks for your efforts all the same. I will check the other one.

Does anyone have any more info on Stan Meisner? I can't find reference to him anywhere on the net. I do, however find a Randy Meisner of Eagles fame.

OK, this ought to help you. The song sounded so familiar, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it! Thanks to Bonk, I was able to put 2 and 2 together - the song, originally done by Stan Meissner was covered in 1990 by Eddie Money. Whew! I found it on Kazaa (not Eddie Money's version, but Stan Meissner's) if you want to download it. My username is stingr22, of course. The song's lyrics are below. SUCCESS!
ONE CHANCE
The well has run dry
I’m staring at an empty space
I can tell that it’s over
Gone without a trace
This habit’s so hard to break
When there’s so much at stake
I don’t want to chance it
And leave it up to fate
One moment held by a thread
One time to hold on to love
If I could see my way clear
Then I’d drive into the night
chorus
Just give me one chance
Can’t let it go on this way
Just give me one chance
Gotta get out of the rain
Just give me one chance
You’re the one who can cure this pain
We’re worlds apart and we’re miles away
I can’t make it another day
You and I have been running
Running all our lives
We should have seen this time coming
Should have been no surprise
One moment held in time
The silence starts to tell the truth
I’d go through it again
If it could take me back to you
chorus
Well a feeling this strong
Burns so long
There’s a reason to try
To keep it alive
repeat chorus

Thank you everyone, especially Bonk and Stingr22, who hit the nail on the head. With some 12 1/2 years since she last heard the song, and 17 1/2 or 18 1/2 since she first heard it, she has finally identified it. I can say nothing more about this story, as that would be hers to tell, if she wished.
Again, on her behalf, my sincerest thanks,
Freddie

Thanks BJ. "One Chance" was the song. All the same she has a dynamite memory, since she really didn't get a good listen, either of the two times.

*a young girl walks into the room and says*
Thanks everyone. For I am the little girl who was looking for the song.
And now ... I wait for the time to finally meet the man who caused the "bad obsession".
And you, Freddie ... thanks for putting this up on the net.
And to Stinger ... thanks a billion times for assisting me with "all my manly needs". Stan is day-yum! :-*
