:Dthe first computer I ever used a lot was the APPLE II GS
and it was a pretty awesome computer for its time. There were 2 things I did not like about it though-It used a system disk to boot up,and the ONLY way you could boot it automatically without that disc was if you had the system installed on a hard drive, which was an 'extra' you had to shell out $$$ for! :(

You know, the ]some strange reason I didn't have the money for it.  :P

I recall a buddy of mine at the time who ran a 2 line BBS on an old Apple /// that had a 5 meg hard drive!  That was in 1985 so it was the largest BBS for its time in that city.  It was primarily an Apple board but he shared it with the 'Commies and the Atari users as they were great game crackers!  I do remember him keeping the few IBM'ers off as he didn't like the attitude those users had.   :D

As for the Apple boot disks.. man alive, I hated those things!  I was always crashing them for the Apple ][e.  >:(  I sure was happy when the 3.5" disks came out, but didn't like the early Macs (a 9" b/w screen?? c'mon..).  Now, after 20 years of faithful service the internal HD of my Lisa 2/10 finally kicked the bucket.  :(

???Anyone remember the "AppleWorks"word processor/database/spreadsheet software for the Apple II computers? I liked the word processor for letters and stuff, but to do the newsletter for my first volunteer job I used MultiScribe GS,which allowed me to use both text and clipart. ;)

Ahh, AppleWorks.  MANY a night bashing keys trying to get last-minute term papers in highschool and early college done.  Got a bootleg copy from a friend, by the time I had it all figured out (no manual) the @#$%%#* computer died.  Hmm, maybe the karma thing is real... ???

The guy I sold my Apple /// to had an unopened copy of Appleworks.  Still had the plastic wrap and pricetag on it.
