Subject: Re: Battle of the Bands!Van Halen vs. Hall and Oat
I am going to go with Van Halen...thing you have to remember is Van Halen in the 80's was with David Lee Roth not Sammy Hagar.
Subject: Re: Battle of the Bands!Van Halen vs. Hall and Oat

I don't like either one! But if I had to pick one over the other, then I'll go for Hall & Oates. They're much more bearable to listen to.
Absolutely Vile

Van Halen because they meant the big rock and loads noisy and exciting gigs. But I like Hall & Oates as well. One of the finest 80s duos btw.

jdd267 you are right about Sammy Hagar coming in during the 80's. Sorry.
Subject: Re: Battle of the Bands!Van Halen vs. Hall and Oat
These two bands are totally different styles. This is more a question of whether you like one style of music more than the other, than it is of the bands respectively.
Frankly, I like both styles and both bands very much and equally. :)

Actually, Van Halen in the second half of the 80s (1986 and on) was with Sammy Hagar. David Lee Roth's last Van Halen album was "1984", made in (you guessed it) 1984. The "5150" album was made in 1986, followed by "OU812" in 1987, etc.
Oh yeah, I would vote for Van Halen (no matter who the singer is) over Hall & Oates. I like Daryl & John, but there is no comparison.

Hall& Oates! Definitely. Halen was OK but I didn't need to hear them as a rule.
Subject: Re: Battle of the Bands!Van Halen vs. Hall and Oat
I'm going with H&O as well. Van Hallen like U2 started off strong, but maybe they have both been around too long for their own good.
