Subject: Night Tracks, Missing Songs

Written By: davap on 10/20/03 at 08:37 a.m.

There was a song I would see on TBS' Night Tracks ALL of the time.  It was a video made by a black woman who wore blond or white extensions in her hair.  The song kept repeating Feels Like the First Time I've Ever Ever Fallen in Love.  It had a Madonna like feel. . .She was riding a bike and singing to a White or Hispanic (?) looking guy.

Also, there is a song that was played on the radio during that same year called the Last Time.  A woman sang about a two-time man.  She said her "Name is King, not Ms. Jackson."  It sounded like Janet.

I am looking for any information on Trinere.  Songs:  I'll Be all You'll Ever Need

I am looking for any information on a group called New Choice.  Songs:  Funny Feeling, Cold Stupid Dumb. .

These black artists are no where to be found.  Want to add their work to my collection.

You're thinking of "Feels Like the First Time" by Sinitta, a minor r&b hit here in the U.S. in the Spring of '87. (It failed to cross over to the pop chart.) In the Fall of '89, she also scored a minor pop hit w/ a fairly decent cover of Maxine Nightingale's 1976 hit, "Right Back Where We Started From". She's actually of Native American descent, but is dark-skinned; she's also an actress...

Link below to an informative site detailing both her singing & acting:

Your memory serves you well. :-) You're thinking of "Last Time" by Theresa, a big hit on the r&b chart here in the U.S. in the Summer of '87. (It also failed to cross over to the pop chart.) Despite the name, Theresa was actually a female/male duo of Theresa King and Victor Porter. It was off their 1987 album, Broken Puzzle. Unfortunately, the album is long out-of-print, although it did come out on CD here in the U.S...

I have her 1986 s/t debut on cassette which includes her 1985-86 hits, "I'll Be All You Ever Need", "All Night", etc. Great stuff - but very hard to find, I'm afraid, as she was always signed to tiny indie labels. :-( She's from Miami, so I would imagine her stuff is a bit easier to find in that region...

Seems they landed just two minor hits, and only on the r&b chart at that (at least here in the U.S., anyway): "Cold Stupid" in the Fall of '87, originally off the film soundtrack to Penitentiary III, and later included on their 1987 album, At Last, a New Choice; and "Funny Feeling" in the Winter of '89, off their 1989 album, At Last. Unfortunately, both of the group's albums are long out-of-print, although they did come out on CD here in the U.S...

Yep, I have to agree, all 4 of the dance/r&b acts you named are pretty tough to find nowadays...
