Subject: LYRICS help
Ok, I should know this one...part of the song goes:
"Sheriff came by my house to-day,
Said I have to go away..."
It sounds like the police, sort of reggae/80's haunting beat....
Any help?
;D

"King Of Pain" by The Police, perhaps? ;D

Merci for the help Mr. Vile, but that's not it...:(
It so sounds like the police, but I just don't think it's them...maybe it is...HELP!

That's Mrs. Vile to you! :D I know that's not it. I realised that later on. I know the song you're talking about, and I just can't remember who it's by or what it's called right now. I'll keep researching.

I'm just a girl. Lucky me!

It was a Canadian band from Toronto, I have a cassette with this song on it but alas I'm slaving away at work. Not the Boys Brigade but from the same period.

Found it, The Tenants, 1982, were on their way up when their management team stole their money, :P moved to Austrailia and spent it on producing Men At Work. Much thanks to the Canadain Pop Music Encylcopedia.

D'OH!!!!!! Defeated!!!! >:( <throws tantrum>
OK, I'm better now. So what was the song called? You'd think that being Canadian, I'd know this!! But it completely slipped my mind!! :( GRRRRRRRR...

Mrs. Vile has been Conker-ed...haha, sorry, couldn't resist!
I truly thank you both very much, and i'm sure with a little searching on Kazaa or the net, I can find the name of the song...so the Tenants hey? Never heard of them, but the song is always around. ::) Too bad they moved it to Men at Work, but they do sound the same - don't they? odd.
Have either of you heard of the band 'We've Got a Fuzzbox & We're Gonna Use It'? Definite early grrrrl punk...check it out!
One more song (weighing on my mind) has these lyrics in it - "Ohhhhoohhhh it's a miracle"...male singing, slower song...definitely 70's or 80's...not much to go on, but I think it can be done! Thank U's!

Sorry Vile but that era was my prime music playing/buying/listening period. To top it off it wasn't the disco/dance stuff I was forced to play nor was it the synth pop that I never really got...maybe next time when someone's looking for a Depeche Mode tune... :)
Subject: Re: LYRICS help
I know a lot more than just Depeche Mode. Does the picture I have look like anyone from Depeche Mode?? No. Do you see any quotes on my messages that are associated with Depeche Mode? No.

Subject: Re: LYRICS help
I'm still waiting for the name of this song....:D We've come to the conclusion it's by a group called The Tenants...but WHAT IS IT CALLED?!
Absolutely Vile
Subject: Re: LYRICS help
It's actually called "Sheriff"...hehe, imagine that?
It took forever to get on kazaa, but well worth it.
They're now called Strange Tenants, unless they've always been called that...they still tour etc....but the song Sheriff doesn't seem to make it on any of their playlists...I believe it was released only as a single.
:)

Vile, I see your posts on here alot, and you are a well-rounded 80s music fan. I give you your props!
But you MUST admit that you are a little too "into" Depeche Mode and The Smiths! I know, you can't resist!

Is there something wrong with that? :D I like other bands as well, but those are my two favourites. So f'in' what? You live your life, I'll live mine. Let's all just get along!! ::)
Didn't your mummy ever tell you, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all?"

...And I doused another venture with a gesture that was...absolutely vile...
