Subject: Question about the show, "My Two Dads"

Written By: BooBerryMuffin76 on 09/29/03 at 07:47 p.m.

Does anybody even remember this show? It was aired during the late 80s and was about a girl (can't remember the actress's name, but she was also in the sitcom "Step By Step") in her 'tween years who was adopted by two men. One man was an artist. Anyway, looking back at this profile, I'm wondering if the men were suppose to be gay. Does anybody know?

Just curious.

I watched this show for part of a season.  As best as I could understand, no, they weren't gay.

I had to Google them to remember who else was on that show.  Check out:

Yeah it came out back around 1987 or 1988.  I remember that Paul Reiser (Mad about You) played the more conservative father.

I don't remember who the guy was that played the more fast living, outrageous father.

The premise was something along the lines of two guys sharing custody over a 12 year old girl whom they both had a relationship with her mother.  I remember the girl became so attatched to both of them, that she never wanted any kind of DNA test done, because then she would find out that one of them was not her dad, and she liked both of them.  I'm pretty sure the only way to solve such a scenario would be to have an episode that once and for did a DNA test and declared that neither men was the father, and the biological father was an elusive man that would never be found.  That way the girl could always have both Paul Reiser and the other guy as her "dads".

Yeah, I remember this show. The girl's name is Staci Keanan.

They actually did have an eposide where there was a DNA testing to find out who her real father was.  Because she loved them both she did not want to know the results and that's how that eposide ended, I believe.

The cool dad was played by the same actor that was in "B.J. and the Bear."

Yeah, yeah, yeah.  But you all have forgotten the most important part.  Shelby (her best friend) was played by Amy Hathaway in later episodes.  Now THOSE were the ones i most looked forward to!

The cool dad was played by Greg Evigan, and ofcourse Paul Reiser was the other dad.

Didn't you get the impression that the cool dad was deliberately made out to be some sort of George Michael wannabe?
