Subject: I'll miss John Ritter

Written By: ygibb on 09/12/03 at 07:22 a.m.

This is my first post in this forum, and I wish it could be on a lighter note. I'm sure all of you know John Ritter died this morning of aortic dissection. I never really knew he was that sick.
:(

One of my favorite shows of all time. And will always be.

John Ritter - RIP - 1948-2003

No less important, Johnny Cash died this morning too. Sad day.

I almost wanted to cry when I heard about his passing today.  THe only 2 stars that came this close to shocking me with their early deathes are John Belushi and Andy Kaufman.

But John's was even more so, because of his "boy next door" characters.  He was somebody that we all wanted to get to know.

And it is ironic that a friend of his father's died also.  John's father was country music star Tex Ritter.  I am sure that John, Johnny, and Tex are all having a beer together in "Hillbilly Heaven" right now.

If you are ever in Hollywood, make sure you stop by John's star on the walk of fame.  It is right next to his fathers.

This was the first thing I heard when I got up this morning and turned on the TV (which at this time was not very long ago). I was absolutely shocked. I don't think anyone knew that John Ritter was ill. I'm not sure that even he knew, since...from what I read online anyway...he died from an "undiagnosed heart problem." Three's Company was one of my favourite programmes to watch when I was a kid. Funny, funny show. I never did get around to watching Eight Simple Rules... though. I know a certain person on this messageboard, if he's already heard, is probably really crushed right now. :(

Johnny Cash...well...I'm not a country fan by any means, but he was cool. He was "the man in black!" Black, of course, being my favourite colour. :) His last album (I think it was anyway) contains a cover of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus." You can't get cooler than that. :) I will be playing "Personal Jesus" and "Dressed In Black" in his honour. Of his own songs, I probably like "Ring Of Fire" best.

Absolutely Vile

I was also very shocked to hear of John's sudden passing, and on the same day as Johnny Cash passed away. It seems we have been losing beloved celebrities in droves over the past several months...

i loved three's company. john ritter was a comedic actor's genius, who would have known. and i loved johnny cash. as a kid i hated country music but i discovered him later on and appreciated and loved his music. my father is a big country fan and he told me about john ritter's father, tex ritter, another famous country singer and actor. i hope there all up there now, jammin' away.

Quoting:

End Quote

2 of my favorite episodes are "Days of Beer and Weeds" when Jack was drinking Stanley's home made beer and goes to the police station and the cop asks him if he can pee in the cup and Jack replies "Not from here" was funny,, also the episode "Now you see it, Now you don't", when Jack gambles away 15,000 fake dollars and he thinks its real so him and Larry try to win it back and they end up winning like 100,000 in fake money and they think its real----hillarious and unforgettable.
I feel like Ive lost a friend this week. John Ritter is and always will be what true comedy is all about. He is a very gifted and talented person and will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. Thanks for making me laugh for so many years.
