End Quote

Oh yes, I have fond memories of this movie.  It is yet another of those 80's movies that gave us all a peek at who would be famous in the comming years.

The entire cast reads like a who's who of future stars.

C. Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Emillio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Tom Cruise, Diane Lane, and even Leif Garrett.

And fantastically directed by Francis Ford Coppola.  This was the ultimate teen book of the 1970's, and even holds true today.  I loved this book from when I first read it, and this is by far the best movie ever made from an S. E. Hinton book.

Just stay away from "That Was Then - This Is Now".  Emillio Estevez was also in that movie, but the end is so far different from the original book, it is not worth watching.  Just watch this 2 times.

Trivia:  Watch the ending scenes, and you will see Susan E. Hinton playing a nurse in the ending sequence.  :)

sigh - I still have my huge black and white Outsiders poster.  It was my first Patrick Swayze experience - never recovered.

:)  Believe it or not, I was just watching the video over the weekend.  With all the summer garbage on television, I thought I would dig out some of my old favorites!
