I had fond memories recently of the greatest action TV show that ever died short of a second season... AUTOMAN...
What could've made for a better 1980's plot? A computer programmer creates a hologram crime fighting super-hero, who drives a car around that is able to defy physics in grand Tron style, yet fully capable of carrying around its creator, Desi Arnaz Junior, in the passenger seat.
Who can forget every 90-degree turn Automan would make, Desi would be propelled by interia (how sadly Newtonian) into a face-first dive against the passenger window?
Anyone else remember this show?

I remember Automan, but I hate to say this but I thought it was pure 80's cheese. It was sooooo campy and corny for that brief 1 season it was on the air.
Even the cartoony Knight Rider looks light years more mature and better then Automan......ironic since they were both created by Glen A. Larson. The best thing about Automan was that the concept behind the show was definately WAY AHEAD of it's time. It was just too campy for my tastes. Knight Rider is goofy cartoon show, but at least it's watchable and has some kind of maturity to it.
