You consider this a ballad? You just added this in for the John Taylor factor, didn't you. :P ;D In that case, I'll add:

Never Turn Your Back On Mother Earth - Martin L. Gore

A beautiful song, originally done by The Sparks, but magnificently covered by Martin. It's from his Counterfeit EP from 1989. :D

Again, I can only list the things I immediately think of at this moment....

Any REAL love song (i.e, slow, not medium or fast!!!) by:

Lionel Richie/Commodores
DeBarge (& company)
Kool & the Gang

I also love many of those listed previously (that fall under the proper-tempo category).

Yeah, but I never considered "I Do What I Do" particularly slow! :) Hehehe...I have it on a tape somewhere. I recorded it off the radio in 1986. I remember it being just slightly upbeat, nothing you could really slow dance to...but I could be wrong!! :D

Though it's a bit on the sappy side, I admit I have a soft spot for the Kylie Minogue/Jason Donovan duet Especially For You. And it wasn't a hit, but I like Heartache Feeds Heartache by A Drop In The Gray.

And though it's not really 80s, I really like Duran Duran's Ordinary World.
