Subject: 1980's Medley Songs
One thing I do not see mentioned here is all of the great medley songs from that time period.
If you remember the early 1980's, there was a slew of them, and they might be even worth a section in the music section.
THis was also a precursor to the remix craze of the 90's. I can remember some of the big ones from that time period, let's see if anybody can remember any others:
Stars On: Stars On 45 was a big hit in the early 80's, with a slew of variations, including movie hits, Beatles, Barry Manilow, etc.
Hooked On Classics: a slew of classics set to a disco type beat
Hooked On Country: Same as HOC, but country songs, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, etc.
Hooked On did a large series, including Dixie, Swing, Jazz, Disco, 40's, 50's, 60's, Rock, Hymns, Glam, even Polkas!
Beach Boys Medley: The Beach Boys did an awesome medley around 1981, compilation of some of their greatest hits.
Stuck On TV: Warren Schatz did a twisted medley of TV theme songs in 1982. I still have the album, and it is great. A real flashback into TV shows of the time. Dallas, Facts Of Life, Barney Miller, Tales Of The Gold Monkey, Rockford Files, Hill Street Blues, etc.
DJ Jive Bunny: One of the ultimate in party remix artists everywhere. You just gotta jump up and dance when you hear "Come on everybody everybody everybody"
The Star Sisters: mid 1980's, they did medleys from Marilyn Monrow, and big band style.
Max Mix: This series featured such artists as Kylie Minogue, Yazz, Yello, and others combined into a dance format.
Peter Douglas: Did a series of songs mising different Frank Sinatra songs.
I am sure there are a lot of others like this. This was a very big style from 1981-1984. But sadly, New Wave eclipsed it, and is hardly mentioned anymore. Hopefully this will remind some of us about these great songs, and finding others. :)
(I am 38 and have worked as a DJ for over 20 years, starting at a roller rink in 1981. ANd back then, I was always playing these songs.)

I recall this being popular in 1990. :)
My fave was "Stars on 45" (The Beatles variation), especially the 45" version. I also like the 45" version of their instrumental "45 Stars Get Ready". It's very hard to find too.
