Subject: Who would you give life to again?
Of all our 80s heroes who have passed away which ONE would you bring back to life?I would chose John Candy. At the end of his life he was slowly morphing into a dramatic actor like Tom Hanks it would have been cool to see him win an Oscar.
Subject: Re: Who would you give life to again?
My sister. She died in 87 of a heroin overdose. She was my greatest influence and "hero" at the time. She had me listening to the Dead Kennedys and Black Flag when I was like 8. Funny to think how over my head that music was to me back then.
I wish she could see how I turned out. I think she would have been proud, and we would have been great friends.
Ugh, I am a downer.
If we are only talking about famous people only, I am still really bummed that Joe Strummer from the Clash is dead.
Subject: Re: Who would you give life to again?
JOHN LENNON!!!!!!
He wasn't murdered by a crazed fan, he was assassinated by the US government because they couldn't kick him out of the country. It was an inside job. We all know the US government did not like his views on peace and on the war in Vietnam, and they wanted him out. Failing that, they could have him killed. Simple as that. I have no doubts as to who did it. Mark David Chapman was the killer. But did he really do it for notoriety? Sorry, I had to get my conspiracy theory out...;D
Other than that, I'd love to have Sid Vicious brought back to life. OK, he died in 1979, but still...such an impressionable young man. Nancy Spungeon ruined his life. If he hadn't met her, he might not have got so heavily into drugs and may have still been alive today.

Malcom McLaren was no help either. Have you checked out the Filth and the Fury. If you are a fan of the Pistols, you must check it out http://www.rottentomatoes.com/click/movie-1095542/reviews.php?critic=columns&sortby=default&page=1&rid=1178647
Subject: Re: Who would you give life to again?
Yes, I have The Filth And The Fury on DVD. Wonderful film!!! I've seen it several times, but maybe I'll have to watch it again, because I don't remember McLaren ever contributing to Sid's drug habit. But maybe he did! I'm not sure...
I went to the link you posted, and it was good until he said that "Sid and Nancy did a better job of capturing the essence of the Sex Pistols." Utter crap!!!!! Sid And Nancy was a terrible film that was nothing more than a dramatisation of Sid's life with Nancy and The Sex Pistols. Not to mention it has one of the worst endings in film history. I also think that Courtney Love would have made a better Nancy than playing her sister or whatever, but that's another story...:D
OK, I'm going on a rant here. I'll stop now. ;D

Michael Jackson. I still think he needs plastic surgery.I would like for him to go back and look at himself 20 years ago and try to change himself and look like 1983 instead of a dead corpse.

As far as personal, I'd have to say my parents. My dad died when I was 9 (1979) and my Mom when I was 14 (1984).

John Belushi.
I can't help but imagine how Ghostbusters would have been with him playing Dr. Peter Venkman.

Besides that, I agree with you completely. I wonder what he thinks when he watches himself from back in the 70s. He could have grown up to be a great musician and singer if he hadn't changed the way he was before. Oh well, his loss. Just a life wasted.

Jim henson and John lennon
Subject: Re: Who would you give life to again?
George Adamson and of course his wife Joy who was also murdered.

I don't think Michael Jackson looks like a corpse, I think he looks more like a human/pig, something you would see on the front of those fake newspapers that have the alligator man on them.

Personal - my grandparents
Famous - Michael Hutchence, Paula Yates and Princess Diana (for their respective kids), also River Phoenix as I feel he had so much to give to the acting world.

This ones only famous to those who listen to the music:
Rob Fisher of Naked Eyes.
He was the keyboard player. He died of stomach cnacer in 1999 midway though the making of a new Naked Eyes album. They reformed in 1995 and started recording later on. They had been a long time without an album, and they started one.
The album was finished up by Pete Byrne and was released. It had several damn awsome songs on it!

See, now I'm all for conspiracy theories when they make sense, and especially when the "facts" wreak of nonsense (Warren report anyone?)...
But by 1980, do you really think the government was so uptight about dissenting viewpoints on a war that had ended 8 years earlier, that they needed to snuff a guy for it, in the form of a high-profile murder that would no-doubt get major press, and serve as a high-risk for revealing dirty secrets? Who knows, maybe it was an inside job... we'll probably never know... Feds are probably good at that, aren't they?
And I can't believe nobody has mentioned Colonel Sanders... that man could be making some GREAT new chicken nuggets these days... if Uncle Sam hadn't offed him for selling herb & spice recipes to the Reds... ;)

My Uncle John aka "Wes"
He was so young when he died or shall I say got murdered. My family was faced with the awful choice of turning off his life support(He was brain dead).
I have at least 12 uncles and out of all them, my uncle Wes seemed like the only one who gave a damn. He visited me constantly, even when I moved out of Brooklyn. I remember playing school with him. He would sit patiently through each one of my lessons.
I would like to bring him back because my uncle was a nice guy. He had his flaws but his was nice.
He was gunned down when I was 11 years old. His was the first funeral that I had ever gone to. I will never forget seeing My Grandmother in her hospital gown with an IV in her arm crying. She ran away just to get to the funeral. I can also remember my uncle's best friend wailing. That was the first time I had ever seen a grown man cry. The whole situation was quite unerving for me. I would give anything to bring my uncle back. :(

famous person?Only NASCAR fans would understand this,I know I'll take some flak for my pick:
DALE EARNHARDT.I know he died in 2001,but I think the man was a racer's racer. Yes, I know he was not popular with some people, but watching "the Intimidator" on the race track gave me goosebumps! Also Davey Allison and Alan Kulwicki, two racers whose lives ended all too briefly. :'(

I forgot to add somebody even though she isn't famous (even though I heard rumours that she claimed to be on a cover of a magazine---lol, and was also related to Thomas Jefferson--hmm?), my paternal grandmother. She died in 1988. :(
Even though I only shared 12 years of my life with her and that my memory is getting a bit fuzzy, I remember her being a great lady: disorganized but laid back, warm in nature, caring, and full of wisdom. God rest her soul.

But he was a trooper through it all,and he had more good days than bad! :)He finally passed on at the age of 14 years of old age and related problems. :'(I now have a 5-year old female Calico cat named Tika, who is HEALTHY and also a sweetie! :D

I don't know about that, but after having watched a show about John Lennon's murder and Mark David Chapman, I was reminded that Chapman was just nuts. :) He had no affiliation with the US government whatsoever. John Lennon, though, was the kind of person that the government probably would have wanted to see dead because of his views. I guess if it was an inside job, it would have been done a few years sooner.
