Subject: Midnight Oil

Last week I was listening to a classic rock station in L.A. and they played a Midnight Oil hit, "Beds Are Burning". I was wondering if they had any other hits?

The album Beds are Burning came off of has several great songs on it, they were all hits on the college station here in Lexington.  Gtg back to the radio, playing They Might Be Giants...."Make a little birdhouse in your soul......."

Being an Aussie band, of course they were huge here. The lead singer Peter Garrett even ran for parliament.

You may remember them playing at the opening of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney - I think they probably played "Beds Are Burning" then, because they were wearing clothes emblazoned with the word "Sorry", in sympathy for the rather deleterious effect that Western colonisation has had on the aboriginal peoples of Australia.

Thier other big hit (at least in the US) was  "Blue Sky Mine."  They made a big anti-multinational corporation statement with that one.

Also from the Diesel & Dust LP:  The Dead Heart (follow-up to "Beds Are Burning"-- which was their biggest hit in the U.S.)

Yes, that song was actually about the plight of a group of miners who developed cancer after working in an asbestos mine.

Thanks to all that replied. I listened to all the ones mentioned. But I only liked Beds Are Burning.
