anything off the "1984" album, especially "Jump". That song really showed what the synthesizer was all about. And older stuff, I would probably say "Unchained" is a great song. I liked Van Halen when David Lee Roth was with them, but Sammy Hagar is ok too.

Davd Lee Roth years: "Jump", the Kinks cover...forgot song title..., "Pretty Woman", "Panama"

I thought the Top Gun theme was done by EVH?
Subject: Re: Favorite Van Halen Song
I have to say I prefer the DLR years. It's hard to choose a song but love the '1984' album.
That said I did like 'Pouncake'.
Subject: Re: Favorite Van Halen Song
I also preferred Diamond Dave to Hagar even though Hagar wasn't bad...Never cared for Gary Cherone.
Dave Era - "Mean Street" from the album Fair Warning.
Sammy Era - "Good Enough" or "Why Can't This be Love?" from the album 5150. Toss-up.
Gary C. - If I had to choose..."Fire In the Hole" from Van Halen III...not too bad a song, all things considered.

with Dave
Dance The Night Away
Beautiful Girls
with Sammy
Poundcake
Summer Nights
Subject: Re: Favorite Van Halen Song
For me, nothing they ever did subsequently lived up to Running With The Devil off their debut album (1977, I think). I also loved the Eddie Van Halen guitar solo instrumental that was on the B-side of the single, called Eruption, it was great for playing at top volume in my teenage bedroom and annoying my parents.

Jump ;D
Subject: Re: Favorite Van Halen Song
Love Walks In
Why Can't this be Love
When It's Love
Finish What Ya Started
Ain't Talking Bout Love
Jump
Panama
I'll Wait
Everybody Wants Some
Dreams
These are all my favs. I guess Sammy's better in my mind cuz he sings most of them. Great Band no matter who's singing.

"Jump!" and, believe it or not, "Right Now."

I've never understood why people call the later incarnation of the band Van Hagar. If they're naming the band according to the singer then shouldn't the early band have been called Van Roth? ::) ;D
