Subject: parents against hevey metal
anyone remember this hate group it targeted the heavy metal scene in the early 80s to mid 80s they even had a court hearing about it saying that songs like sucide souliotion shoot to trhill and dont fear the reaper (which wasent even reliced in the 80s) was responsible for a guys death in werstern texsas in 1982 they even came up with a sistem to get people out of metal what do think about this horraple group

I beleive it was the P.M.R.C. Parents Music Resource Center. Headed by The robot Al Gore's wife, Tipper.
The lead singer for Twisted Sister, Dee Snider battled them in court.

Ironically, Tipper Gore's kids are probably now against today's music (rap, Marilyn Manson, sexually explicit teen queens, etc.)
Same with most people who grew up in the 1980's. (no offense)
Though I don't care for today's music.
I find these groups dumb because attention only causes their popularity to rise.
Not to mention this goes way back to the days of Elvis Presley.

That's just unavoidable though. It happens to every generation. And it will continue to happen to every generation as long as human beings are around. People simply become more anal and uptight about things as they get older. That's just the way it is. Even people in their 20's will start acting this way. A lot of people my age, 25, already act that way. I remember having older cousins in the mid and late 80's that were into all the controversial stuff of the time. I remember when my one of my cousins who was 16 in 1984 was cheering Madonna on for writhing around in a sexually explicit way at the MTV awards. But today? Most of them are against everything and anything in the pop culture and act like soccer moms/dads.
And most it is also because as you get older you feel the pressure and responsibility of having to set a good example for the younger generation. I mean if you tell the youth of the world the truth and that the world was always messed up, that's not really good. Kids need to know that the way the world works with all the killing and violence is not the way it ideally should be. So as people get older they fudge about the past and make it out to be better, that way they can tell kids, "See, back in our day it was much more simpler and innocent and it was like this and that, and we didn't go around doing what you no good punks do like that and this...."

Perhaps, but not likely. It is true that the Gore kids all grew up in the 80's, but they are on the young side so they may not be as crusty and out of touch as you might think. Al and Tipper Gore's 4 or 5 kids are all under 30. The oldest girl Kareena was born in 1973, she's still 29 but will obviously turn 30 later this year.
The youngest Gore kid was born in 1982, probably not much older then you. Tipper got really upset when her 3 year old and 6 year old were listening to what she considered nasty lyrics back in 1985. The younger kids were probably just listening to whatever the oldest kid who would have been 11 or 12 at the time was hearing on the radio. Tipper Gore just really overreacted and made a fool out of herself. Thankfully she shut her mouth up when her husband became Vice President in the 90's and ran for Prez in 2000.

I would cut Tipper and Al Gore some slack. The man did go to Vietnam unlike other rich people of the time, GW included. I think he has a right to his opinion, even if it is not popular.
Personally, I love heavy metal and rock and roll! But I am more inclined to politely listen to someone like Al Gore who is not a sell out. It is not like someone from the far right comming and turing your stereo off.

This is correct, except that Snider didn't battle them in court exactly. He testified to a grand jury along with Frank Zappa and John Denver, whose music was also put in the firing line. It's interesting that out of all the musicians the PMRC went after, mostly heavy metal bands and early gangsta rappers but basically any musician whose lyrics could have been considered "suggestive" (hence Denver's 'Rocky Mountain High'), these were the only three guys who thought strongly enough about Gore's goons to testify. All anyone else could do was whine and moan, and laugh.
Furthermore, I believe the PMRC is still in existence, although Gore has nothing to do with it anymore perhaps because of the embarrassed it caused.
