I have been feeling some nostalgia for the 80s.

But to be honest, my life as a teen sucked.  I was a geek, afraid, awkward, couldn't get laid (like most guys I knew), the economy was in the toliet, we were afraid the Russians were gonna bomb us, there was the threat of AIDS.

I at least lived in a nice, boring American suburb rather than a crime infested hell hole like in some big ugly American city.

Just curious if anyone does NOT have fond memories growing up in the 80s?!?

There were some cool movies, video games, music, though a lot of that music is really lame.

I remember when they used to play endless Motley Crue videos and Warrant and Poison videos on MTV.  Though I prefer those over all the rap crap that is on now, or this boy band junk.

Anyone with sucky teen years in the 80s?

I guess like most teenagers at times you think life sucks. But to be honest, I didn't have many of those times. For the most part it was great times. Not to many complaints. And I grew up in a crime infested hell hole. (Philly) But at the time I was to busy having fun and didn't care. I still live here and can't wait to get the hell out.

I had a pretty horrible time.....to say the least. I was a freak even back then and I got harrassed even by my own teachers.

My life did suck in the eighties when I was a teenager..but would I go back..of coarse ;D

No it didn't.  I even knew then that it didn't.  I was spoiled rotten.  I miss those days.

Mixed Emotions out there.

I might go back and slap myself in the head and tell myself to get in better shape, talk to more girls, etc.

And realize it all wasn't that bad.

But the ignorance of youth gives way to the wisdom of old age.

  While I was a teen in the 1980's, I thought on many occasions that my life sucked.  Now, years later, looking back on it all, my life in the 80's probably didn't suck to the extent that I thought it did.  

  Go figure... ???

Yes.  My family life sucked royally in the 80s.  The ONLY thing that got me thru it all was the kickass music.   8)

I had a lot of friends back then.Life didn't suck.so, life sucks NOW cause most of my friends and my Parent's Friends are gone away or dead.We have nobody to talk to. >:( :(

My life in the 80's is better discussed with a therapist rather than in a public forum, but I would definitely go back...as the age I am now, or at the very least in my twenties...away from my parents. And in the UK, not Canada.

I had such a great time during my teen years! Lots of fun memories for me. Not that there weren't moments of geunine teen angst: you couldn't be a teenager without some angst and bad moments. All-in-all, I would have to say I was very fortunate to have been a teen during the 80s, as there truly was no better time to have been a kid! :)

The 80s really sucked for me. First when I was living at home with my parents and then when I moved away and married the first guy who came along. It wasn't until the 90s when I finally found my independence and started making decisions for myself that I am finally and truely happy.

Good Lawd, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The 80's are the BEST memories for me, although my high school dork years (79-83) were difficult at best. Once I graduated, I blossomed and the world was exciting. '84 on were just the best, music-wise, fun-wise, social-wise, etc. Looking back, of course, I was completely naive and immature, but I had such a great time.  Every guy I liked liked me back (oh, like THAT would ever happen again after that), MTV was fabulous then, my record collection was the center of my universe, concerts were heaven (Billy Idol, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Depeche Mode, Oingo Boingo, etc.), I had no pimples, my worries were all trivial, and in 1986 I fell in huge love for the first time (lasted 4 years).

But even though I had fun, I know I didn't appreciate it as much as I could have. Does anyone at that age? I'd give anything to have those years back, but I guess that's only because I'm old and shrivelly now and want to savor that innocence again.  :-[

Now I'm all sad.
