Subject: Searching for club music a beginners guide
Written By: _Loren_ on 06/05/03 at 06:45 a.m.
I have spent many hours in front of my computer searching for songs which I heard over the course of many years, in many clubs, in many different uhhhh mental states.
Although I know every single sound, every single beat and words of the songs I never took the time to ask the DJ's artists and titles so finding songs that you don't know can be tough. I would like to share a few pointers with everyone.....this may get lengthy but it may be helpful.
First, I only use Kazaa...it's got problems to be sure but it is the easiest to use and the sheer number of files online can't be beat.
Kazaa now has a neat little participation level. Did you know that the higher participation levels get priority over the lower levels? it's true. 1 version of kazaa comes with a cheat to keep you at Supreme being and this is handy but for those of you that dont have that vesion there are easy to use hacks to fix your participation level and keep it high. Same goes for search results...kazaa limit is 200 but there is a simple hack that doubles that...just do a search and you will see all of the avail. hacks.
Ok things I search for on Kazaa when I'm looking for music:
Razormaid - many good songs can be found which have been remixed by razormaid...once you find these songs now you can accumulate different artist names and start downloading thier songs to see if they are keepers...Note: Razormaid also has a website which will provide you with artists and titles that you can search for.
6400 - 6400 was a fantastic club in Houston and much of the music that was played there is on the Kazaa with 6400 as the keyword or file description.
NRG-CD - A few years back someone put out an entire set of CD's and they are terrific...using NRG in your search will bring up alot of unwanted stuff what you want specifically will be filed that say NRG CD #1 or #2 etc. etc. not files that say NU NRG or Italian NRG...just NRG with a CD# PS!!!!! If anyone can tell me where to buy this set I would be eternally grateful.
~OMINOUS~ - or any veriation of the word ominous. Ominous was a user I found on the old Morpheus his or her collection ROCKED! and alot of files with ~OMINOUS~ as the keyword can be found on Kazaa. I have not been able to locate the user ~OMINOUS~ since I found him on Morpheus.
USE GOOGLE!!!!! - Do a search on Google for any obscure band from the 80's I happened to use English boy on the love ranch and I was bombarded with sites that listed peoples club music and was then able to find those songs on Kazaa. The web is a cornucopia of information. I love the word cornucopia....say it with me now.....cornucopia,
Me! - In the next few days my entire collection of music will be tagged with the keywords _Loren_ - 80's - retro - industrial - dance and you may browse thru my library at will and I always accept messages feel free to ask for help with songs.
Lastly use the kazaa users if someone uploads from you and they are getting a pretty obscure song from you there is a good chance they have some in thier library as well and if you find someone that has a good song check that library as well...the more libraries you put eyes on the more keepers you will find and remember when you hit the gold mine and find someone who has a bazillion songs you want send them a friendly note explaining why you are sucking up all of their bandwidth, some like myself may even offer to open more spots or go directly tho an instant messanger or even send you burnt CD's
Hope this helps and good hunting!
