Subject: sweat/wrist bands fabric?

Written By: Digitales on 06/04/03 at 08:01 a.m.

Hey folks! i have a question  ??? since english is not my native english... i wondered what is called the type of fabric used to make sweat/wrist bands? i love doing stuff by my own and i wanted to make some ATARI, MSX, JEM, THUNDERCATS wristbands myself because the prices of shipping are outrageous if i buy from ebay, it sucks because I'm in Norway  >:(
Another problem is that I have bipolar disorder and i just can't deal with online auctions anymore, last time i blowed $3.000 dollars in Barbie dolls (mainly rockers), even though i don't have anymore place to storage all these dolls and i've been broke since this manic episode. I'm going to try to sell those soon but ain't sure if anyone will actually buy in europe anyways.

so if you could help me, i would appreciate, so i can hunt this type of fabrics in the stores nearby. Thanks! 8)

I believe they're made of a terry cloth with elastic to give it stretch.  I'm not sure if they sell the cloth with the elastic in it already or if you have to buy the two seperately.  I'm sure an employee at the fabric store should be able to help you out.  :)

Diamond_Doll's right! :D It's that same kinda fabric used in the making of towels. The elastic is sold separately, but both should be available at the same store. My cousin took a home economics class in high school and I had to drive her to one of these places, but I don't remember what those type of stores are called. Fabric stores? Arts & Crafts stores?

I spent three thousand dollars, not three! LOL
i've got like nearly 100 dolls here everywhere in the apartment, it's sickening, but the whole trouble was the shipping, that's what made the dolls sort of expensive  :o

You're a sweetheart, thanks! my brother in law mentioned the towel fabric, but i wondered about the elastic, it's probably sewn on but i will check out in the fabric store and see what is best. Wish me luck! ;)

Yeah it makes sense, i will check the type of elastic as well, it's probably the thicker (broad) type? There are some good fabric stores here, Singer for example, is a good one 8)
