Subject: What do you REALLY think of Madonna?
I believe she was innovative, provocative and knew how to push people's buttons, so to speak. She knew how to get the media on her side and transform herself in order to still be interesting. Her music in the 80s was fantastic, but now I dodn't really like her new stuff. Her last good song was 'Don't Tell Me' in my opinion.
Do you guys think she helped make female sexuality more apparant, or that she was just a bit of an exibitionst and a wh*re ?!!!

I never bought into her act.

She's had her 15 minutes too many times. Time to step aside and let the other talentless hacks have a go. Of course she could make a play for Vegas.
I've already given her more attention that she deserves just by posting this.

I'm on about 80s Madonna - so what did you think of her back then. Now, she's nothing special, but back then, well that's a different story imo...

I think Madonna of the 80s knew exactly what the pop scene was needing, she marketed herself very well. She was clever and very shrewd. She was also very entertaining. Unfortunately she has decided to "reinvent" herself so many times that I hardly know who she is or what she wants now. I doubt if even SHE knows the answer to that one.

I agree with Sillywabbit, she AND her promoters knew exactly what the public wanted. Her music was soooo much better back then IMO. Why? Because it was fresh and new, she could get you groovin' and she could make you shed a tear for a loved one. But MOST of all.....she was the biggest fashion trend setter of the 80's. Every girl wanted to be her & every boy wanted a piece of her. She also wasn't afraid of promoting "sex". She made us not ashamed to use the word sex, much less try new things. She made "Bondage" and "S & M" look & sound like a fashion statement. ;)

Um, I guess Criz, sillywabbit and princessofpop already stated what I was going to state. I have and liked every album (and lots of singles) up until Music. This new effort of hers is that - an effort. I did not like any of the songs in the new album and I think this is truly the end of Madonna for me. It wasn't a bad 20 years 8) If she decides to go the Cher route, then more Grrrrl Power to her, ya know?
Definitely into the early Madonna and the Erotica Madonna. Both had their charm and beauty - and they sound excellent. I bought into act. It's a great act.

I love Madonna since "like a virgin". At the time for me Madonna was a Godness. A great dancer, singer and performer. Now I know that she's is a Pop Star that discover the secret of sucess, which doesn't mean that she's a great singer, dancer or performer. I like her anyway, being or not the great Pop star of all times ;D

My favorite videos were Borderline,Lucky Star and Like A Virgin cause it showed her sexuality in a way but after that I didn't care much but it was ok.

I'm not a real fan of hers, I only liked her song "Material Girl" (just got the music video off KaZaA the other night). By the way, a lot of people don't realize that she has a sub-genius IQ rating. Probably why a lot of reporters don't hassle her too much. ;)

Ouch. Madonna bashing time. I just like a couple of her songs (Into The Groove, La Isla Bonita, Lucky Star and Like A Virgin). It's hard for me to bash someone like her who IS a legend/icon of pop music. Can you imagine what kind of videos Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and others would look like if it wasn't for Madonna?
Subject: Re: What do you REALLY think of Madonna?
Musically, she's about as hit or miss as you can get. "Music"? Crap. "Like a Prayer"? Brilliant. "Material Girl"? Awesome. "Justify My Love"? Terrible. I will give her this, though: She's never been boring.
As for her persona, she's had a profound effect on the music business. Before Madonna, female pop stars weren't allowed to be sexual or revealing. After Madonna, it was demanded of them.

I like the old Madonna. I like the new Madonna. I like the fact that she's learning to play the guitar. I think its sad that this new album might not do as well as others. I think its one of her best. I do think young people today aren't buying her album because she really is old. She'll be 45 this year. I'm 25 and I feel old. She's old enough to be my mother. So she must be ancient. I do prefer her over today's female popstars. She is way more entertaining and interesting than Titney or Titina.

She just had that sexuality that she always flaunted in her videos during the 80's.Now,I'm not too crazy about her music these days. >:( ::)

yes sometimes I feel old too and I have only 26 years old. :'(
I think people like Britney Spears that make the Top only with 17 years old, make us feel really old, specially when we can't get at least half ::)
