Milli Vanilli looked awsome, and I didn't care if they were really singing. Their lipsink was part of the illusion that made their show great. When they did try to sing, it ruined everything. I would have told the grammys to stuff it, had I been both Rob and Fab.

It was one of the sad side effects of MTV. Older people that were critiques of the 80's pointed to this incident as representing everything wrong with the 80's and MTV. Before MTV, an ugly person could record a song and be famous on the radio because people were only listeing his or her voice.
If you are only average looking then you won't cut it in showbiz anymore. You have to be really good looking and photogenic enough, otherwise it doesn't matter how good a singer you are. It's hard to get recognized or be famous.

Quite right Jason it still goes on now ! There was a news story here a couple of years ago where a local girl with am awsome voice sang on this song that suddenly got in the charts but because the girl in question was far from slim the record company had a skinny little model wiggling about lipsyncing her vocals.

But the true is that Milli Vanilli with ugly faces, and with no style didn't have the same sucess. ::)

It's also true that the older, less attractive guys who actually sang for Milli Vanilli didn't have much stage presence nor could they dance anything close to Rob and Fab. It was their looks, presence, and vocals that made Milli Vanilli what they were. Take away the vocals, and the equasion was so irreparably damaged that everyone was led to believe they had been victims of a bazaar scam. Had everyone set that issue aside, Milli Vanilli may have continued to exist as an art form. Does the creation of such an illusion justify its obliteration?

I not only did not break the album, but I immediatley went out in search for the cd, to insure that I'd have it to listen to for a life time. I don't care who sang it, I believe it was one of the best albums of the 80's. I've said all along, that whoever sang the songs, should have been given the grammy after it was taken from Rob and Fab. I hold nothing against Milli Vanilli.

I listen the music and it sounds good, that's the only thing I want to know. Rob and Fab they were the 80's style, the true Milli Vanilli don't, so the songs and the style it's only compatible with that 2 guys that didn't know to sing. It's sad but true.
