Subject: Re: MTV Music History- What video was the first
How about some clues... ::)
The first two videos MTV aired were:
"Video Killed The Radio Star" The Buggles
"Treat Me Right" Pat Benatar
And both didn't have any kissing scenes.
Is it a Rod Stewart video?
I know that MTV aired 36 of his videos during it's first fun.

I bet it's "Vienna" from Ultravox.
Subject: Re: MTV Music History- What video was the first
Sorry, I don't have a clue and don't know where to find the source since MTV.com is only focused on current trends.
Subject: Re: MTV Music History- What video was the first
David Bowie's "China Girl" was probably the first video on MTV to show an interracial kiss.

You are right on. I know, because I was watching at the time :)
The early days of MTV were sooo incredible. Remember the Saturday Night Concerts? The first was Journey, which I STILL have on VHS tape. There were other great concerts like Triumph, Billy Squier, Rush, April Wine, Sammy Hagar, the list goes on and on. I have a few of these that I've gotten on tape since then. I'm still looking for the Sammy Hagar show (Three Lock Box tour).
*sob* I miss those days...

Oh, I agree, wicked lame! It was a benefit for something or other. They were showing it in the cinema before the feature, along with the anti-crack public service ads of the time. :P
