Subject: Favorite School House Rock Song

Written By: Arcfire on 05/06/03 at 10:13 a.m.

LOL I know that School house rock came out in the early 70's (74 was the first I think with nouns) but it was played on Sat mornings till the mid 80's. I was so hooked into TVs on sat mornings when I was 10, I used to be able to sing alot of these by heart.   ::)

The only one I can still remember all of is
"I'm just a Bill"  (I wanted to go into politics-almost made a liar out of me!)   :o

But still can remember:
The Preamble (We the People, in order to form a more perfect union...)  :D
Mother Neccesity  :D

What were some of your favorites?  ;D

Added:

And for those who dont know who or what Schoolhouse rock is, here is a link with sound clips to understand why people in the office sing these songs, they were catchy for the time! ;D

Interplanet Janet, I'm just a bill, and Ready or not here I come (aka 5, 10, 15, 20, 25,...) are some that come to mind that I remember enjoying.
I took the kids to see the local dinner theater's version of Schoolhouse Rock! last summer.  We had a great time!

Aren't I a little old for Saturday morning TV? Saturday morning's are now for sleeping off the effects of Friday night's show at my dinner theatre...I hate getting old ;)

My favorite has always been "Interjection." I also like "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly (get your Adverbs, here)" I also like the one about the Constitution (the one with the Preamble). Then there is the imfamous "I'm Just a Bill"

I found a CD of some of the School House Rocks songs a few years ago. I was with a friend when I bought it and she thought I was nuts! (Well, I am but that is beside the point). But, I'm sure secretly, she wanted to hear it but unlike me, was afraid to admit it. As I listen to it, it just brings me back.

My life was completely devoid of these songs, maybe because I was overseas in the mid 70s.  I first heard, maybe noticed and wondered about these songs, when 2 people in my office started singing them a few years ago.  They went on and on happily, one would sing one, then the other - was amazed at how much they remembered by rote memorization.  I kind of wanted them to shut up.  I remember that bill on capitol hill chant.

My favorite Schoolhouse Rock song is definitely "Conjunction Junction, What's Your Function?". I used to sing that one all the time. I was also fond of singing "Interjection!" at the top of my voice. And "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly Get Your Adverbs Here" was another good one! :)

Well, even though I was born in 1978, I definitely remember Schoolhouse Rock. The ones that were my favorite were Conjunction Junction (which I guess was everyone's favorite) and the one where they did multiples of nine (?).

Was there one which involved the history of the American flag, from 13 stars and 13 stripes to the 50 star flag of today? I remember taping a Schoolhouse Rock-ish song that I sung myself when I was about 7 involving the flag, but I can't recall if that was a real Schoolhouse Rock, or if it was one Imade up.

Midas, that is awesome!

I was going to mention too, that Ween does a great job of covering Shot Heard 'Round The World on the 90s compilation of the Schoolhouse Rock songs.
