Subject: Soundtracks from the 80s
I'm sure this has been touched on quite a bit, but I was listening to the Soundtrack to "Some Kind of Wonderful" and I truly feel that this is the best soundtrack that came out in the 80's. Sure, Footloose had the pop hits and you can argue Breakfast Club (a couple of GREAT hits), Breakin', Pretty in Pink and others, but songs like Pete Shelley's "Do Anything" and The March Violet's "Miss Amanda Jones" are songs that have withstood the test of times. I still play them at bars around here.
Just wanted to start this thread and find out what you thought was the best soundtrack of the 80's, obscure or not.

That soundtrack for "Some Kind of Wonderful" includes Flesh For Lulu's "I Go Crazy", one of my favs of all time. It is a great soundtrack overall in my opinion. "Pretty In Pink" is quite good as well.

My three favorite soundtracks from the 80s are from Permanent Record, Labyrinth, and The Lost Boys.

I'd have to say a toss-up between Pretty in Pink and The Lost Boys. Some Kind of Wonderful did have some great songs, but I think I'll have to go rent it again and check it out.

DJJimbo,
Last November I was visiting some relatives and while we were out, I came across "Some Kind of Wonderful" on cassette for a buck. I snatched that real quick. It is good!
I would have to say "Vision Quest" is my favorite 80s soundtrack.

One of my favorite soundtracks was to "The Last American Virgin", unfortunately, it is long out of print and was only released on LP and cassette. My other favorite one was to the movie "The Sure Thing", and as far as I know, it was never released in any format.
The good news is that both of these great 80's movies are FINALLY going to be release on DVD this Summer, on August 5th.

Footloose, definitely.
