Subject: What is the name of these two 80's t.v. shows?

Written By: Dana on 04/21/03 at 08:48 p.m.

You might not know the answer to this but I cannot remember the names of these two shows for the life of me.  I will try and explain them the best that I can.  On one of them, there was a teenage girl who lived with her mother maybe, and her dad was from outer space and she would talk to him through a crystal triangle that was on her coffee table.  Thats about all I remember of that one.  The other one all I remeber was there was a little girl (about 8 or so) who always wore the same ruffly dress and she was a robot.  Nobody knows what I am talking about and its driving me crazy?  I know its not much info, but do you have any idea which ones I am talking about?  Thank you.

The other tv show was Out of This World I think. I think the girl was named Evie and I remember she had an Uncle Beano. Her boyfriend was that guy from General Hospital.

The "space" show: "Out of this World"
The "robot" show: "Small Wonder"

They were on back to back, I beleive on Saturday mornings on ABC after the cartoon hours and before sports. between about 1987 and 90. They had a "grade B" quality to their production and filming..not quite sure how to describe it..but in my opinion the shows were not too bad for the teen/preteen crowd.

BTW this was definitely a "war on drugs" era show..one of the SMall Wonder episode revolved around the mom finding a stash.thinking it was the older, actual human son (named Jamie)..only to discover it was the robot Vickie who was using!! I'll never forget that show and my sister and I used to mock the mom on the verge of tears "Drugs...Jamie's into..DRUGS???"  I had no clue why a robot would or could use pot!

They were syndicated shows with no backing from a network, that's why they looked so cheap and flimsy.  None of them ever aired on a network like ABC.  I don't think any of them made it past 1989 either.  I remember Small Wonder starting in 1985.

Thanks for clearing that up and it does make sense..was a coincidence that in the 3 cities I lived in at that time they were all on the local ABC channels.

Hmmm....

They might have aired in the morning on ABC as syndicated shows, but they certainly weren't distrubted by ABC.  Where I lived, they showed up on the typical syndicated stations that are today WB, UPN, and FOX.

Small Wonder was definitely a corny show but funny nonetheless.

"Small Wonder" would fit nicely in the TV Land Kitchsen time slot.
(Probably too recent, but TV Land already airs "Mac Gyver")
Despite that I don't like the show.
