Subject: milli vanilli/actual MV singers
Ok, who really did sing their songs? What was found out about it? Anything? Just wanting to know..... ???
Subject: Re: milli vanilli/actual MV singers
It was Frank Farian, their German producer & songwriter. He also sang all the male parts on all of Boney M's hits.

You know I have to admit right here and right now that I, as a horrendously misguided youth, was a fan of Milli Vanilli.
On the subject, however, I thought I saw in the behind the music that the real singers were like average looking Joes. Could be wrong though.

I remember photos of the actually singers being shown on tv. I don't remember anyone saying it was Farian singing. MTV's bio for MV says it was the singers listed below. Here's a link if anyone wants to check it out.

This article from 1993 says 'the vocals were actually performed by Charles Shaw, John Davis, and Brad Howe.' It also says, "The genius behind the Milli Vanilli sound, if you want to know, is producer Frank Farian, also responsible for disco pioneers Boney M." Doesn't say he sang though. But I didn't read the whole article.

It says ALSO, so I'm not sure what it is refereing to as it makes to prior mention of MV. Hmmmm? I dont' know. I always thought is was a group of 3-4 black men though.
HOWEVER, this site claims Farian did sing as Boney M.

"Boney M record albums pictured four black performers, mostly former U.S. service members who stayed on in Germany to make a living in music. But Boney M was also Frank Farian, finally getting to record the black music that got him into the business. On the albums, he was mentioned only as a back-up singer, and sometimes he wasn't mentioned as a singer at all."

I also begrudgingly admit that I liked MV also. :-[
I sort of liked several of their songs, but the one that I was hooked on was Blame It On the Rain...that song was just ADDICTIVE, imo.

I also liked the the music. I was actually relieved to hear that it wasn't those two guys actually singing, because I didn't feel as embarrassed to admit that I enjoyed the songs! ;D

With lots of singers who lip sync today, Why is it so bad to be a fan of Milli Vanili.
Absolutely Vile

Some of us don't like those lip-synchers either.

I saw "Behind The Music" and they did show the actual singers singing. They looked very old school type image wise. I don't know it is hard to explain but I'll put it like this: They had sort of like an updated Ashford and Simpson, or like an Alexander O' Neal/Cherelle vibe to them in appearence and music wise. I think the real singers were 2 guys and a girl. When I saw the clip of the real singers singing I was just shocked to see who the real voices were. Frank Farian just wanted that music to go to a younger audience. I don't think Frank Farian ever sung a note. Funny I should mention Farian: He did produce for dance group La Bouche when they scored hits like "Fallin In Love", "Sweet Dreams", and "Be My Lover" in the late 96/early 97 period. The girl who sung for La Bouche(Melanie Thorton) died in a plane crash a couple years ago. She had a great voice though.

WELL, Milli vanill was not too bad. thing is, kids look up to their fav stars so much and to hear these guys were FAKES about kills kids!!! See, those of us in our 20's or older, KNOW that a lot of bands are full of controversy and are fake and steal SO MUCH of their music. (Rap and Hip Hop are particularly bad about this)
In the arts, real talent is almost non exsistent.
