Subject: Duran Duran original lineup to reform & tour
Written By: maddog167 on 03/28/03 at 03:08 a.m.
Apologies if this is old news to everyone, but I read in my (UK) newspaper this morning that the original lineup of Duran Duran (Simon le Bon, John Taylor, Andy Taylor, Roger Taylor, Nick Rhodes) are to reform, make a new album and embark on a World tour, all for a £30M deal.
Anyone interested? excited? I'd certainly go and see them again, if only for nostalgia value.

Can't wait! ;D
They should be almost finished with their album. I'm absolutely certain they'll finally have their magic back, as once upon a time.

I couldn't agree more. I've seen them 3 times now. Wedding album tour, Thank You tour, and the Medazzaland tour. So, I have yet to see the original line up LIVE. I used to get all upset because I didnt get to see them on the 7 & Ragged Tiger tour (I cant for the life of me remember now WHY I couldnt) but now I think it was a good thing, because at age 14, I believe I would have literally died on the spot had I seen them way back then.
I'm a bit worried about the problems they're having finding a label to sign on for the album though.
I've seen them in Atlanta twice, and Nashville once. So long as they show up in one of those cities, I'm only a couple hours away from total concert bliss!

It is SOOOOOO great! Great isn't the word. The word I'm looking for has yet to be invented!!! For me, this isn't about nostalgia, this is the first time'round!!! I'm only 18 and I missed out on everything!! :'( Believe me, I have been more than making up for it, thanks to Ebay, and when the tour starts, I'm there baby, yeah!!!!! I still think I should have been born in a more appropriate time for my interests, like the late 60s maybe. Darnit I have bad timing. Or maybe my parents do, I dunno.

I checked their web site today, saw this and thought I'd pass it along:
japanese tour dates
OK – so here it is. The moment we’ve all been waiting for... Their first shows back together again in 18 years.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the formation of Duran Duran back in 1978, the five original band members – Simon, John, Nick, Andy and Roger (affectionately known by Rolling Stones magazine as ‘The Fab Five’)- are today announcing a handful of dates over the course of the summer, starting with four in Japan, in July.
And you are the first to know...
Monday July 7th - Osaka - Jo Hall
Tuesday July 8th - Fukuoka - Zepp
Thursday July 10th - Nagoya - Century Hall
Friday July 11th - Tokyo – The Budokan
Tickets for these shows will go on sale in early MAY.
While these are the only dates scheduled as of now, more ARE expected and will be posted on DuranDuran.com as soon as they are available.
In addition to the forthcoming shows, the band - who have spent the past few months in the studio working on their first album back together - are also gearing up for the release of a 13 CD commemorative boxed set: DURAN DURAN, THE CD SINGLES (which is currently slated for release on July 12 in the US and May 12th elsewhere). Covering the band's hits through 1985, featured tracks will include "A View to a Kill," "Girls on Film" and "Rio." The box set is one of the most eagerly anticipated of the summer, with a feature in BLENDER magazine covering the extensive history of Duran Duran to run in tandem with the release.
