Ooh ! A question for Moi ! ;D
Hi BMG,
Come to think of it - I heard it on the TV the other night and took no notice until seeing your question and then I had a flashback....
For some reason Mitsubishi comes to mind ?
Maybe Goreripper, GazPacho, Gecko, Mandamoo or HolyDooley can assist here ?
FB :)

Hey there FB.
Argh I keep missing the ad. I am in another room and as soon as I here the opening beat I charge out to see the ad and by then its over. I coulda sworn I saw a Barina - but then - I know NUTHIN bout cars !!!!!!!!!

I have not seen the ad, sorry BMG. Here's a question though - what is it with car ads lately and using 80s music to sell them? There's that car ad that's using Walk Like An Egyptian, another one using a Violent Femmes song. Not that I'm complaining - although I have been told that I sound like the tone deaf girl in the Walk Like An Egyptian ad when I try to sing!!!!

I take about as much notice of car ads as I do of teen pop acts, but I have to admit I've seen all the ads discussed here. Using "Blister in the Sun" in a TV commercial for anything is downright blasphemous as far as I'm concerned! ;D
The best one is the Reflex copy paper ad featuring two seconds of my favourite band, Blood Duster!

It's embarrassing. It's a definate sign we've gotten old when those songs are used for car ads or soap ads.

You know what it is? The cars they're advertising with those ads are the ones aimed directly at people from our generation: 25 - 40 year olds. So it makes sense they use something in the ad we can connect with, ie. the music we listened to when our parents were that age.
I feel old.

Sorry all, I've been out of the country for two weeks. Maybe it's an ad that's only on in the West?

You must know something about cars - the ad is for a Barina. Lying around reading a book today and the ad came on. I immediately thought of you BMG, and you were right: BARINA!
Subject: Re: Take On Me
hehehehe is it really a Barina !!!! thats so funny.
Its funny the songs they are choosing for car ads lately. There was one for a 4 wheel drive using a real boppy version of Dont Fence Me In - it would get stuck in my head for days !!!
