Subject: Any big time Great White fans out there?
Written By: V-MAX on 03/21/03 at 10:26 p.m.
Great White is and alway has been my favorite Rock group.
Out of the night
She shakes me
Face the day
Shot in the dark
Run away
Lady Red light
Rock me
All over now
House of broken love
Desert moon
Afterglow
Step on you
Old Rose Motel
Wasted Rock ranger (heh!)
These tunes are the crown jewels of my music collection. It's heartbreaking to see how Great White never got the attention and success that they deserved.
It was depressing to see how G.W. slid from being concert sell outs to doing night clubs and making so little money that they felt that they had to make the foolish decision to cut corners to the point of becoming do-it-yourself pyro technicians. Now they burned down a building, they lost a band member to the fire, and they have to live with 100 dead on their conscience. What a tragedy!

Yes I was a huge great white fan, i saw them in concert back in late eighties and they was great.
Feel bad for the people in the nightclub when they was playing, unfortunately we have probably seen the last of them, but it doesnt take away from there great music.

I passed up a chance back in 86 to see Great White when they were touring with Judas Priest. Boy do I regret that! My buddy Russell went to that concert and he said I really missed out. But then again; that's what I told him when he passed up the chance to go to the Us Festival 83 (Metal day).
I thought G.W.s first album was good when it came out, but with the exception of "Out of the night", it really didn't impress me much. But when the "Shot in the dark" album was released, I was very impressed. What a shame that that CD is still OOP. "She shakes me" (my favorite) never made it on any of their "Best of" CDs.
And they kept cranking out high quality tunes on through the 80s with Once Bitten, Twice Shy, Hooked, and then Psycho City. It seams that right after that album their inspiration left them.
Jack Russell is an awesome singer! He has a pure Rock and Roll voice. And Mark Kendall has a style all his own. No gimmicks, not senseless shredding, no wannabee style copying with him: He played his guitar to make the music sound right in a way that nobody else could.
If they ever tour in L.A., I will definely go to see them. I'll just have to be sure I'm close to an emergency exit.

Great White to Reunite
Mar 28, 2:23 PM EST
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The rock band Great White plans to perform together for the first time since the band's Feb. 20 concert in Rhode Island resulted in a nightclub fire that killed 99 people.
Survivors of the group say they will perform one song at West Hollywood's Key Club on April 29 to raise money for a memorial fund in honor of their late guitarist, Ty Longley, the group's manager, Paul Woolnough, said Friday.
The charity concert will benefit the late guitarist's pregnant girlfriend, victim relief funds and students seeking art scholarships.
Great White has no other plans to perform again, Woolnough added, although surviving band members may make individual appearances at various other benefits.
Other bands in the Key Club lineup include the glam-metal group XYZ and 5 Cent Shine, of which Longley was a former member.
Longley, a 31-year-old Ohio native who had lived in Los Angeles for the last five years, was among the dozens who perished at the Station nightclub in West Warwick, R.I. Investigators suspect the band's pyrotechnics ignited soundproofing foam.
A grand jury is investigating the case.
Longley listened to Great White in the late 1980s and idolized guitarist Mark Kendall, said Longley's sister, according to family members. He joined the band about four years ago.
Kendall and singer Jack Russell are the only members from the original lineup. The band had recently performed mainly as a nostalgia act at small venues after reaching the peak of its fame with the 1990 hit "Once Bitten, Twice Shy."

Princessofpop: Thanks for the info. Big thanks! I'll be sure not to miss them this time.
When I saw Jack Russell on the news after the tragedy, I was shocked: He used to be almost as much a pretty boy as John Bon Jovi. But Dayum! That boy's gotten ugly! He looks like a homeless person. It looks like an angry mob picked up ugly sticks and beat the hell out of him. Time has surely been cruel to Ol' Jack.

What a rip off!! I had to stand and listen to 5 sorry ass bands for 4 hours to hear Jack and Mark play one insignificant tune off their Sail Away album. I plan on sending Great White a nasty e-mail. I wasted $40.00 for two tickets, $6.00 parking, and I missed a half night of work for nothing! If they come to your town, DON'T GO!
