Subject: What's your opinion about these '80's artists
I want to know what's your opinion about these different '80's artists:
Debbie (now Deborah) Gibson The original teen queen who actually did her own material & was quite a cutie. (now looks great) Fun Fact: In 1988, she became the youngest artist to write, produce, and perform a #1 hit at age 17 with "Foolish Beat". The record still holds. Deborah Gibson is now a Broadway Diva and still occasionally puts out albums like "M.Y.O.B." from 2001. She's now doing "Caberet".
Depeche Mode A great post punk act fronted by Dave Gahan. One of the greatest new wave acts from the 1980's with such great classics like: "People Are People", "Just Can't Get Enough", "Strangelove", "Enjoy The Silence", and many more.
Def Leppard A kick*** hard rock act from England. Best known for thier classic albums "Pyromania" & "Hysteria". In my opinion, they're the greatest hard rock band of all time.
Duran Duran Another new wave act from the 1980's. Unlike Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Smiths, etc. (no offense to those artists), their music were more uplifting and appealed to a lot of the female audience like The Beatles.(and some males) Not trying to compare the two. Best known for several hits like: "The Reflex", "Hungry Like The Wolf", "Save A Prayer", "Wild Boys", "Girls On Film", and many more.
DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince An easy listening rap duo from the late 1980's fronted by Will Smith, who later bacame an actor/solo rapper. Best known for some songs like "Parents Just Don't Understand", "Girls Ain't Nothing But Trouble", "A Nightmare In My Street",and their early '90's summer anthem "Summer Time".
Write down your opinion about some of these artists. Positive or negative.

I think you've covered it well. I like all of the above, especially Duran Duran.

Good list. I like Depeche Mode, especially 8)
Duran Duran is okay too 8) I like half their stuff and the rest I could easily get used to.
Subject: Re: What's your opinion about these '80's artists
I actually preferred Def Leppard's early stuff (pre-Pyromania). But still a good listen, that's for sure. That's one thing I like about most 80's rock/metal bands... they knew how to make their music fun.

Like 'em all, esp. Depeche Mode. 8)

DEBORAH GIBSON!!! The artist formerly known as Debbie has been my favorite since 7th grade when she appeared OUT OF THE BLUE... I LOVE HER... I've had the chance to see her on Broadway in BEAUTY & THE BEAST, as well as in the touring shows GREASE and JOSEPH... and as *NSYNC's special guest during the 2001 PopOdyssey Tour... can't wait to see her as Velma Kelly when she reprises that role for a week in Oklahoma City this summer!!
*And Deb will be co-hosting THE VIEW March 28* Tune in!
jimmie. *shake your love*

I like " Dream On" by Depeche Mode. ( I'm listening to it right now.)
Subject: Re: What's your opinion about these '80's artists
You will have absolutely NO argument from me on your opinions of Def Leppard, but I like to go one further and consider them the greatest band of all time, not just hard rock. ;D

Debbie Gibson
Ehhh...Then: Never gave her a second listen. On the radio alot...
Now: Nostalgia fodder.
Depeche Mode
Catchy music. Great lyrics. Extremely popular at my high school.
Def Leppard
Kick a$$ rock, Hysteria being their last great effort, IMO. I recall a time in the mid 80's when it wasn't cool to like Def Lep...go fig... ???
Duran Duran
The fab five...what can I say?
DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince
Survey says...EHHHHHHHHHH!! Not my ball-o'-wax.

I do like Depeche Mode and Duran Duran!

Debbie (Deborah) Gibson:
She was alright. Had a few good songs. At least she was better than Tiffany.
Depeche Mode:
LOVE THEM!!!!!!!! They've had their ups and downs. I like pretty much everything up to and including Violator. Their first album, Speak & Spell, sounds like an Erasure prototype. Obviously the Vince Clarke connection. :) Martin Gore, on the few songs per album that he does sing, has one of the most angelic voices I've ever heard. ("A Question Of Lust" and "Somebody" make me melt!!) The only other person who comes close is Morrissey. :)
Duran Duran:
I've been a fan of theirs for 21 years. At least of their first three albums anyway. I never grew tired of them, even if they had to become a closet fetish. (Can you have a band fetish?) Everything after Seven & The Ragged Tiger didn't quite grow on me like the early stuff did, for whatever reason. But I still enjoy their early career, and I STILL consider bassist John Taylor a heartthrob!!! :)
By the way, I am elated that the original lineup are back together. It's the only one I ever accepted.
Def Leppard:
A group I was into during my VERY brief metal phase. I like the songs on Pyromania and that's about it. I'm no longer into metal or whatever you want to call them.
DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince:
Oh, they were a quirky little rap duo weren't they? 'Nuff said.
Absolutely Vile

There is another song by Martin L. Gore that came out after Violator, which is just as good as his previous works. You should listen to "One Caress" more often. There is also his Counterfeit e.p. "In A Manner Of Speaking" is one of the saddest songs I have ever heard. It is a cover, but Martin manages to add that DeMode touch. He truly is a modern Opera Ghost.
Hmmm. Absolutely Vile, huh? Welcome a-board.
