Subject: The Young Ones
Did anyone besides me watch that show? I used to love it! It was so "alternative" back in the 80's. I was especially fond of that "Neil" charachter! :D

Now THERE was a funny show - if anyone who hasn't seen it gets the chance, do so.
I never saw it repeated over here >:(
I am still waiting ! ;D

Induitably. One of the best TV series ever. Chaotic, surreal, apolitical to the point of being dangerous and incredibly funny.

I used to adore watching The Young Ones when is was run on MTV back in the 80s! ;D What an absolutely clever, politically incorrect and hilarious program. Why isn't this show being run on some cable network, such as Trio or A&E? ???

oh man ;D i haven't thought of the young ones in years!!! god i loved that show... rick, neil, vivian omg... that was hilarious... thanks for bringing that up... now i have to go look for episodes on dvd maybe...
i think my favorite was when rick found a tampon in a girls purse at a party and kept calling it a mouse as he made it climb down her arm and then dipped it in her drink...

I take it this was a tv show? ??? :P...the only tv shows i've seen from the 80's are things like the cosby's, saved by the bell (?), and desgrassi jr. high :P degrassi was shown in my SFA class though...

Hilarious! I remember when it first aired on MTV! Love that show.

I picked up the DVD box set of the show. It's called "Every Stoopid Episode". It's hysterical!!!

I don't remember The Young Ones, what years was it on? It's sounds like it was good though. I used to watch Dead at 21 in the mid 90's on MTV, it had Doogie's girlfriend in it. Cool show.

Wow! There's something I haven't thought of in around 15 years. I remember that show - it was really funny!
Subject: Re: The Young Ones
I watched it religiously when it was aired on MTV. So funny!!! I haven't seen a series like it since. Re-runs would be very welcome.
Subject: Re: The Young Ones
Oh yes, a hysterical show!!! ;D All of the characters were funny in their own unique way. I'd love to see reruns if ever a network decides to dig them out of the vault!

For those who haven't seen it, The Young Ones was a British comedy, that was extremely funny and had a punk-ish vibe to it. I'm not sure exactly when it was originally aired in the UK, but it had to have been early- to mid-80's. I used to catch it on MTV (yes, they occasionally put good shows on!), but they only carried it for a year or so.
I love British comedy....there's just something about it. I'd think that maybe BBC America might re-run it. We can only hope.

If you haven't found them yet, I've been able to rent them at Blockbuster.
Subject: Re: The Young Ones
I sure wish I could find them on DVD. I still have my tshirt of the guys.....lol. My favorite ep has to be when Neil goes out and gets a job as a cop because Viviane (the punk guy)said he was pregnant. Here is Neil the hippie with his hair cut on one side and still long on the other, knocking on a door at a party, and saying "Hey, it's the pigs, hide your stashes!"....also the Medieval torture hour....LMAO I loved that show ;D ;D ;D ;D

FussB it was definately repeated here - several times.
I first watched it before we even had a TV - had to go to a friends house when it was first aired in early 83 at 11pm on Tuesdays. It was all anyone talked about in school the next day.
Then the ABC discovered it had a cult following already so they replayed the entire first season at the more reasonable hour of 10pm.
Then sometime in 84 (when I finally had a TV and video) they replayed it all over again and I was able to tape in all on Beta.
Then I taped it all again on VHS when I lived in the UK in 89.
I have only found series one on dvd in Aust - still seeking the rest.

This was the most recent pic I could find of them all four together, and it is 7 years old! Makes me feel ancient, lol.
