When I was young I dreamed of owning a charcoal grey 1982 Datsun 280ZX Turbo with T-roofs OR an 1983 Mazda RX-7 of the same colour.  Alas, a rare 1971 Datsun 240Z stole my heart instead.   :)

I had an '86 Audi Coupe GT, it was basically a Quattro without the all wheel drive.  Very nice car, the only design flaw I could think of was visibility was difficult out that high back window.  Smooth and comfortable.

What I really wanted when I graduated highschool in 83 was a Firebird!!  Thought those were the coolest!!  There was this sorta chocolate brown/purple color that I wanted to get.
What I ended up with was a Pinto Stationwagon and then a 66 Mustang (which actually was pretty cool) but I didn't really appreciate it until much later when I didn't have it anymore.  :)  I would love to have that car back again.

My first car was a Monte Carlo with a 305 engine. The car I loved the most in the 80's was the Firebird. I used to be a big fan of Knight Rider, and I wanted a red Formula Firebird with a 350 engine and a Targa Top. I think I wanted that car in high school more than I wanted the lead cheerleader.  ;)

My dream car had always been a vet-any year (and of course Kitt-the car that will drive itself). But I am very partial to my 1987 red Nissan Sentra. I know it is kind of boxy and deffinately has seen better days, but it she was my second car (my first, also a Sentra, was killed in an accident right after I paid it off-I got the title the week after the accident-but the insurence co. bought me this car). I am the original owner and never had a payment on her. I am afraid that she is going to be my last car because I think my driving days are almost over, because of my vision. I have thought about selling her because I hardly drive her now but I just can't part with her.

A lot of 80's cars had a boxy look (especially the Japanese makes). The 82' Mitsubishi Lancer is a good example. Oh! yes KITT is the 80's dream car of many but what about its twin CARR??

i wouldn't mind a clean dihaitsu charade though either ::)
if you're getting the pacer, gremlin, or any other AMC(Another Major Catastrophy) get it with the awesome 4 speed stick, it has the invaluable ability to be push started ;D ::) and yu'll need that

The RX-7 was one of the top decade sports cars yes. The RX-7 was the also first car with a rotary engine. It had no cylinders. Look out for the new RX-8 thats supposed to come out later this year. Mazda has done it again! Mazda says its more refined than the RX-7 was.

Cadillac still sold alot more than BMW in the 80's. In fact Mercedes was bigger than BMW in the 80's I think. The 1st year that Cadillac was not the Number 1 selling luxury make was 1998 when it was beat out by Lincoln in the final sales tally that year. I'm not really into BMW's. The only BMW that has caught my eye is the late 90's 3 Series. I don't like the new 2004 5 Series or the newer 7 Series at all. I just think their very overdone exterior stylewise. BMW should have looked at the new Mazda 6 or the Volkswagon Passat to see how a car should be styled. Not a big German Car Fan but I'll give credit to Volkswagon they know to style cars.

'89 Ford Probe.  A great car my dad had one for 12 years before he unfortunately totaled it.  The car had around 280,000 miles on it and still ran well.  Out of all the cars i have ever driven (which isnt a whole lot) that is by far the best driving car.

I believe that the ultimate yuppie car was a 944.  This was up until 1987 when the car became more accessible to the general public. I think that 1987 was the year that Porshe made it more of a street car than a performance car.  Remember the David and David song that starts out, "Miss Christina drives a 944"?    It was a song about the quest for yuppidom.

Oh, those images of my fathers best friend's
1986 BMW 6-series, an M635CSi, still haunts me, nothing so aggressive, so hungry and sharklike has never been made.
I remember how my teacher had heard from the first graders how some kids went around the whole block on their way to school, just to avoid confronting "the shark"...  ;D
One of the most beautiful cars ever made, I'm speechless.

While unfortunately most of them are now rustbuckets, mine wasn't, and that car was an 87 Camaro. I had to get rid of it after an accident but I plan on buying another one(any year) in a few months, when I move out west. If anyone has one that they might want to sell in a few months, let me know, especially if you are in the Nevada, CA area. Thanks. Since I had that car, it has become my favorite above all others.
