Subject: Warrant
I believe the song Cherry Pie killed Warrant. I suppose the grunge invasion in 1992 would have pushed them aside anyway, but It was bad decision to release that song as the first single from their second album. They have become the butt of jokes. Cherry Pie is the only song most people remember them by. So they wore strange outfits with leather and they had long hair, they were entertainers. Do you think they went to the grocery store dressed up like that? Warrant had many excellent songs, and lead singer Jani Lane is a great songwriter. I saw him on VH1 a while back and he seems depressed and has also gained a lot of weight. He is human but It's a sad story. I just had to get that out.

Good song, good video. I don't think the song killed them, I think it was simply the grunge movement that did it. Nearly ALL of the bands like Warrant suffered a loss at the same time. I personally like Warrant, and enjoyed the song.

I didn't really liked Cherry Pie. However, I love Heaven.
Subject: Re: Warrant
Uncle Tom's Cabin would have been a better lead off single instead of being the third
Subject: Re: Warrant
I loved Warrant...Janie Lane was hot. Cherry Pie wasn't my favorite song, but I like it...Heaven is the song that I think of when they are mentioned.

Skid Row suffered a similar fate.

As well as Slaughter, Poison, Winger, et al. It wasn't limited to any one or two bands, but was industry-wide. That style of music just died almost overnight. I'm just thankful most of those bands have kept on anyway, either touring or producing new music or both. It's MY favorite music. I can't get into grunge, I like strong guitar with distinctive playing, I like bass that holds a bass line and rythm, where you can make out notes rather than the bassist thrashing his bass as if he were just another guitar. Vocals that are sung, not growled out with a breath.
I miss my hair metal...

ThunderVamp9 Checkout this site. Then download the two mp3's from Lord Grey. It's a new C.D. from these guys and it rocks. I just recieved mine in the mail a couple of days ago. It's 80 metal all the way.

Out of all the hair bands, Warrant was probably the worst. They probably did as much to kill hair metal as Nirvana.
I do wish Skid Row had withstood the grunge onslaught though.
