Hi Guys-
This is a long shot, but I am looking for the name of a children's book that had a REALLY laid-back, cool cat as the main character. He was too cool for his people family, and they would beg him, "please Carl, come with us to the beach..." Finally, he would acquiesce, but only if he could drive the car!
I was born in '66, but think that the book was much older than my brothers ('68 & '70) and me. We would check it out from the library, then re-check it out as soon as we returned it. Carl was fabulous. The ultimate rebel. Marching to the beat of his own drum.
He is part of our family history/legend and any ideas you have to put me on his trail would be great! I am going to post this on the 70's board as well in hopes of a lead! Our entire family would be eternally indebted!
