Subject: Vale Maurice Gibb.

Written By: Jayde on 01/13/03 at 04:46 a.m.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Maurice Gibb, which I discovered this morning (Australian Eastern Time). I am sure Maurice will be greatly missed, especially for the enormous contribution he, along with his brothers, has made to the music industry, spanning I think three decades. I think it is even more sad for his family, as they lost Andy all those years ago as well. I am sure that the thoughts and best wishes of thousands of fans are with the Gibb family at this time. Jayde.

I echo those sentiments Jayde, it's sad to lose someone so talented at such a young age.

A few years ago the Bee Gees were honoured with a lifetime achievement award by the British Phonographic Institute ("The Brit Awards"). After receiving the award they played live, a medley of their greatest hits over more than 30 years in the music business. It was amazing to see the audience of cynical, jaded record company people literally out of their chairs with excitement at their performance. I don't reckon there was anyone in the place who could stay in their seat, you just had to get up and dance. It just brought it home to me what a talented group of songwriters and performers they are.
