Subject: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
For me it was from a short lived ABC show called Hollywood Beat with Jack Scalia.I was sad when they cancelled it because I couldnt hear that theme song anymore. :'(
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
It's hard to pick a favorite, but I always liked the funky Night Court theme. Greatest American Hero had a catchy theme too.
My all-time favorite TV theme would probably be Laverne & Shirley. WKRP in Cincinatti, Sanford and Son, Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, and Welcome Back Kotter would be runners up.

I remember that show. I haven't thought about it for years, but I remember it - and I loved it. The theme song was good, wasn't it.
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
I liked the theme from Hill Street Blues. Moody intrumental piece.
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
DALLAS! Probably because we watched it religiously! I also get a lot of requests from listeners to play Joey Scarbury "Believe it or Not" and the full-length theme from "Cheers".

Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
Favorite TV Show Themes: Perfect Strangers, Magnum PI, and A Different World.
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
I'll cast another vote for the theme song to The Greatest American Hero. "Believe it or Not" was the best TV theme song from the 80s.
VH-1 did a long special on that show and it's theme song on their "I Love the 80s" special too.
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
"Night Rider"

A tie between "Who's the Boss" and "Family Ties"
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG

Fat Albert
A-Team
Facts of Life
Hardcastle and McCormick
Dallas
American Bandstand
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
i liked the perfect strangers theme and WKRP....or was WKRP technically 70's? i can't remember but that was one of my all time favorite shows.
"as god is my witness, i thought turkeys could fly"
that was the funniest line ever uttered on TV....lol.
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
snoops beat me to the punch with the Hardcastle and McCormick song. I still remember recording that song off the tv. I kinda miss the show too.
Other favs:
Dukes Of Hazzard
Rocky Road
Knight Rider
Growing Pains
Who's The Boss
I wanna throw Rockford Files(hilarious song) in there, but I think that show was late 70s.
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG

Hmm so many good shows so many cool themes...
Night Court was funky
St. Elsewhere rocked
Facts Of Life and Diff'rent Strokes was kitschy
Trapper John MD was schlocky but memorable...
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
My favorite theme (although this series did its original run in the '70s) was the theme to Sanford and Son (it was funky bluesy soul and I would listen to it even if it were not made for TV) If you wanted to identify a real "sound of the 80's TV Show" though, Jan Hammer's Miami Vice theme would have to be in the top 10.

I would add Dukes of Hazzard and A-Team to Knight Rider as the most memorable tv show tunes from the 80s.
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
The theme from Airwolf was pretty cool, and the Miami Vice theme was definitely a popular one.

A local radio station interviewed Gordon Jump (Mr Carlson) Friday. One of the first things he said was "As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly." I about fell out of my chair laughing. Of course I was at work wearing headphones so everyone else thought I was nuts.
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
Mine would be the theme from the Golden Girls, "Thank You For Being a Friend", written by Andrew Gold.
Thank you for being a friend, travel down the road and back again, your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant.
And if we threw a party, invited everyone you knew, you would see the biggest gift would be from me and the card attached would say... thank you for being a friend..."
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
I forgot one, Family Ties!!
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG

Along with most people on this thread, I will have to the theme from "Greatest Amercian Hero." I love that song. Whenever I am in a bad mood, I can just put that song on and it totally cheers me up. I also like the theme from WKRP and M*A*S*H (even though it was from the 70s then 80s)
Cat

Gotta go with...
A-Team
Different Strokes
Battle of the Planets
Danger Mouse
Inspector Gadget
Dukes of Hazzard
YEH!
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
I like a lot of those mentioned.
Another one that sticks in my head a lot is "LA Law".
Id say WKRP in Cincinnati is 80s too. I especially like the closing theme, and trying to figure out the words that dont even exist. The musicians were just screwing around and sounded like they were having a blast.
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
Some of my favorite 80s tv show songs or theme songs came from the shows:
"Gimme A Break!"
"Knots Landing"
"Our House"
"Night Court"
"Alf"
"Solid Gold"
"Facts of Life"
And other great 80s tv show songs or theme songs.
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
Knight Rider
8)A-Team
Simon & Simon
Miami Vice
;DGreatest American Hero
Magnum P.I.

I believe Riptide had a pretty decent song too.
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
Hill Street Blues Theme. I always remember falling asleep to this. I also liked the theme to the Hitchhiker.
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
i like instrumental themes, so airwolf, miami vice, knight rider were cool.
and the theme to tour of duty. i remembered guys in my class asking me for that song because i was the only person they knew that actually admitted to liking classic rock.
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
I'd have to say my favourite 80's tv theme would have to be "Miami Vice" and the end theme of "WKRP". 8)

Gwen, I LOOOOVE the Kidd Video theme and still find myself singing it at weird times!! I'll further embarass myself by admitting that I also love the "Charles In Charge" theme song by the wonderful Shandi and sing that too much also. :-[
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
1. Dallas. Just great.
2. Growing Pains. Very catchy, with, in my opinion, great lyrics.
3. St. Elsewhere.
4. Perfect Strangers
5. Diff'rent Strokes.
Subject: Re: Favorite 80s TV SHOW SONG
I have a special place in my heart for the Family Ties theme song, even the lyrics are seriously lacking in substance and intelligence. "I guess we've been together for a million years, and I guess we'll be together for a million more." "What would we do baby, without us." What??
I also liked the theme songs from Growing Pains, St. Elsewhere, and Doogie Howser. And I think the theme song from Perfect Strangers was decent too, but I'm not remembering how it goes right now, so I may be wrong.

The "Muppet Show" was in the early 80's right?
Kermit: "Its time to get things started...."
Audience: "Why don't you get things started...?" LOL!!
That line always cracked me up! ;D
