Subject: Shakira song "borrows" from Bangles
Written By: Satish on 12/21/02 at 01:41 p.m.
Has anyone else noticed that one of Shakira's songs from the past year, "Underneath Your Clothes", entirely copies its melody from one of the Bangles' songs from the 80s, "Eternal Flame"? The lyrics have been changed, but the music and melody are exactly the same. I don't think the Bangles got a songwriting credit on Shakira's album, even.

I'm sorry but I really don't see any similarity. I've listened to the Bangles song an endless amount of time - it's my favourite love song of all time. I can't hear anything vaugely like it in Shakiras song,

I dont think they sound the same at all. I know both songs and I will have to listen to them both again just to be sure I am thinking about it correctly but I dont think they do.....I will tell you some songs that are the exact same though...
Pearl Jam's "Yellow Ledbetter" and
Kenny Wayne Shepard's "Ledbetter Heights"
EXACT same music different words...I think that may have been intended though considering the names of the songs....Pearl Jam's was out first....

Also, notice that the intro of the new song by Ok Go "Get Over It" is the same as J. Geils Band "Love Stinks".
