Subject: Stretch Armstrong!
I found this really cool retro site that features pictures and information regarding the Stretch Armstrong and Stretch Monster toys. These two were personal faves of mine as kids and I couldn't tell you how many times I came close to breaking my hand by punching the chest of these indestructible creatures!!! ;) At any rate, here's the site:

How many of you guys stretched it so much that the wierd red stuff leaked out on your fingers? To this day, I don't know what that stuff was. Was it harmful? All I know is when I got some on me, I washed my hands fast enough that I wouldn't find out.

As a kid my brother and I had both. But I do not remember the Stretch X-Ray or the super heroes. Does anyone remember them?

I was guilty of doing that as well, Sammy. The liquid inside was actually made out of harmless corn syrup with a purple dye added to give it color! :)

Not sure why, Sammy. I guess they wanted to make it look more like blood or some icky alien ooze... ;D

They also probably wanted people (especially the parents) to notice that it is leaking. Corn syrup is usually clear.
