Subject: Poltergeist
As I sit here watching Poltergeist on TCM, it is reminding me of how great this movie is! I hadn't seen it in years, but man is it a good one. Now I know why I have always hated clowns! I remember after watching this as a kid, I got rid of my clown lamp-shade in my room because I thought the clown on it was staring at me.
Definitely a classic, and an 80s flick too!

Poltergeist is a terrific ghost story. I have it on tape...bought it before DVD's were popular.

1 of the few ghost stories on film and 1 of the best.

Poltergeist is one of my fave 80s horror flicks. I remember seeing this as a kid in the movie theatre with my mother and sister and being scared half out of my mind, especially when JoBeth Williams falls into the muddy pit and all of those coffins and skeletons start rising to the top!!! :o

See if this doesnt make you guys feel old. I was YOUNG in the 80's and it still made me feel old.
My daughter looks a LOT like the little girl who played Carol Ann in that movie. I mean, almost identical at times...well, she and I were on a plane last summer coming back to Memphis from Dallas and these two little boys (Id guess between 10 and 12 years old) were sitting across from us and one of them goes "Omigod, its the kid from Poltergeist" and thought she actually was the kid. I guess they didnt realize that the movie was much older than that.

They also mustn't have realized the "real" Carol Anne passed away in 1988.

Speaking of Carol Anne from the movie, I was watching the "E! True Hollywood Story" this weekend about the movie Poltergeist and it had a very interesting tidbit:
In Poltergeist III, at the very end, last few scenes, you will notice that the camera never shows Carol Annes's face. This was done because the girl playing Carol Anne at the end was a body double of the original Carol Anne. This was done because the original Carol Anne, Heather O'Rourke, passed away before the ending was filmed. The producers were financially obligated to finish the film, so they had to change the ending and find a body double to fill in.
If that "E! THS" is ever on again, its definitely worth a watch. It had a lot of eery facts ragarding the trilogy.

The original Poltergeist ranks only below The Exorcist as the best horror film ever IMO. The cool thing about it was that you never knew what to expect to pop-up next. Very scary!!

Woooooohhhh!!!! Scarey!
The bit that got me really scared (I hid behind the sofa) was when the bloke started pulling at his face while he was looking in the mirror until all his flesh came off. He was looking at his own skeleton!
That was until he woke up. God that was scary as hell when I was little. It beat 'V' when I saw the aliens peeling off their human shell to reveal lizards underneath - whew!

You too should read/watch Stephen King's "It".... ;D

I first saw it in the theatre with my ex before we were married and a friend. I think the scariest thing was when the first thing happened on the screen, our friend let out this blood curdling scream. I hit the ceiling since she was right next to me and I didn't realize that she was going to do that. Before the end of the movie, it seemed like everyone in the theatre ended up screaming. I didn't scream but I think I almost deformed my ex's hand from holding on to it too tight.

It was the long glowing tube in the closet that made me decided to drop my plans to become a gynecologist.

My sentiments exactly!!! I remember having a sleep over at my house and we watched that movie. I couldn't get that face-tearing image out of my head and I was terrified for the rest of the night! :o
