Subject: French New Wave Music?

Written By: new_wave_fan on 10/22/02 at 02:54 p.m.

This may sound like a strange question, but is anyone familiar with French new wave music? If so, what are some good bands to listen to? Thanks!

I highly recommend a '70s/'80s group called Rockets. (Not to be confused w/ the '70s/'80s band of the same name from the U.S., which scored such hits as "Can't Sleep" and "Oh Well".) About five years ago, I was in a used record store, when I ran across a copy of the French group's 1981 album, PI 3,14, on cassette, which had somehow found its way across the Big Pond. I'd never heard of them previously, but it looked intriguing, so I bought the cassette. It turned out to be some pretty cool new-wave music, so I played it for a music buddy of mine, who's big on synth music - needless to say, he loved it, and had to have it, so I traded it to him. None of their albums were ever released here in the U.S. (Europe only). Link below to a French web site dedicated to the group...
