Subject: Well I guess I won't post at 80s.com again
I just got a nice piece of spam from them, reminding me to post on their site (they now have as many members as this site I guess, but since you can't post without registering, maybe that's why).. so I decided to change my email account to a bogus address so I wouldn't get anymore helpful "reminders".. unfortunately, it then sends out a change notice to that email address and locks you out of the system until you get your new password..
They use the same software as I do now, so I guess you should make sure you don't try changing your email once you're registered, or you'll get locked out (unless you're changing it to a valid address of course)..

I've posted at two new, for me, sites this week.
Slate.com has a forum to discuss their articles. It's pretty shoddy... some interesting posts sandwiched between the usual anonymous jerk with a warped sense of humor. Anonymity has its drawbacks. It doesn't seem very well moderated, either.
And I stopped off at sciencefriday.com. I listen to the public radio program every Friday. Their discussion area is skeletal, though. Five postings or so in the last week.

I thought of joining but now I won't. Thanks for giving me the heads-up, Chuck. I'm looking at other messageboards right now but right now I'm only on this one and the one at oldiesmusic.com, where someone mentioned amIright and I posted messages all over that post recommending it and telling them they should check out this messageboard and telling them that (when the message was posted) I had almost 4,000 posts here. (Unfortunately, Ron Smith, the webmaster at oldiesmusic.com, doesn't archive messages on the board.)

I went there once too Chucky and stupidly registered, but never posted. I kept getting little 'reminders', but eventually I stopped getting them. I post at enough boards as it is.

I receive little spammies from them all the time as well. It's not a bad site, overall. I just enjoy the atmosphere here much better! :)

yeah, its not a bad site.. I don't want anyone to think I don't agree with that.. I just hate it when I sign up for something, and people view it as a license to email me or add me to some mailing list..
