Subject: What Year Had The Best 80's Music?????

i'm not sure if this question has been asked, but oh well.. here goes.. what year in the 80's did we hear the best music?
I'm having a hard time choosing between 85 and 87..

Another vote for 1984.
Even though I was very young at that time, (only 6, 7 years old), I remember 1984 clearly. The atmosphere during that time of 1983-'85 was electric, I mean you could really feel it. And I've always felt that '84 was the year the 1980's peaked musically.

Another vote for 1984 here. It was the year that musical tastes and diversity exploded. So many different types of music were all on the pop charts, from pop, country, heavy metal, soul and r&b. :)

1984! My favorite year, album and book. :D My absolute favorite song is Jump, it personified 1984 and the entire '80s.

Yes, '84 was a good year. Prince Purple Rain was that year. Still good to this day.

I'll have to vote for '84 too. It was the year I was born in. I've always considered it to be a very good year of music regardless of the above comment! You've got Duran Duran and The Police to Madonna and Cyndi Lauper to Wham in our charts! All great in their ways :)

My choices would be 1984, 1983, 1988, and 1987.

This is easy, it was 1984. No contest. 1984 ran away with it compared to all the other years of the '80's. Though I think 1985, 1986, and '83 are nice runners up.

It would have to be 1984. I mean, everyone who personified the 80's charted that year. e.g. Relax, Careless Whisper, When Doves Cry, People Are People, Jump, 99 Red Balloons, White Wedding, just to mention a few. '85 wasn't too bad either.

I'd definitely say 1984 (Duran Duran, Thompson twins, Spandau Ballet et al), and 1987 (Europe, jovi, Whitesnake etc)!
Those years I'd go back to in a heartbeat! ;D

Gee, I'm firmly convinced that 1985 was the best year, music wise. Maybe all those songs I've always thought were from 1985 actually got released in 1984...
