Subject: Need advice on 80's Halloween costume!!!
My husband thinks I'm nuts but for Halloween this year, I want to go as an 80's Hair Band Groupie.
My dilemna - I keep getting the "Groupie" and the actual "Rock Star" clothing confused. For instance, I had leopard jeans with straight, tapered legs, a couple low riding big black and silver belts, black leather jacket with fringe - OR - a denim jacket with brown fringe, slouch boots or ankle boots with heels, lots of black rubber bracelets, silver and black necklaces, dangly earrings (of course one long dangle in the left ear), lots of bright colored scarfs and a wide "Bon Jovi" bandanna for my head. And, of course, a HUGE blonde wig (called the LA Rocker wig). Then the makeup which is the easiest. In addition, I also have lots of hairband buttons for my jacket and a couple backstage passes to go around my neck.
So, with that outfit in mind, my husband said that was more of how Jon Bon Jovi dressed. But, my question is can it go either way - groupie or glam band rock star?
I need some advice to tweek this costume appropriately. I still haven't bought everything and I'm losing my mind trying to piece it together. What do you think?

Seeings as how most groupies dressed exactly like their fave stars I say it can go either way...I'm not a groupie but I am a HUGE Jovi fan and in the 80s I dressed like Jon did in the "She Don't Know Me" video and then later as he did in the "Blaze of Glory" video...kinda that cowboy/rocker look...

Hi, Jonman! Looks like we have something in common! ;) Well, that is exactly what I just told my friend... I remember having tons of scarfs and those low belts and pulling it together with the leather and the boots. I'm not a groupie either (not anymore ;) - just a MAJOR fan (did you check out "Bounce" yet? awesome CD). But, I just really, really wanted to do this for Halloween. So, do you think what I have in mind will work for a costume?

It will definitely work out as a costume!! I dunno about the bandana in the hair though...maybe wrap it around your forehead like Jon did in the "Lay Your Hands On Me" video...and yes I look forward to talking Jovi with you too!
Bounce gets released here next Tuesday and I can't wait...I have mp3's of all the bonus tracks but I have not allowed myself to download the album tracks...I want to wait until I have the real thing in my hand...you know that excitement of a new album from back in the pre-Napster days? That's what I'm looking forward to with Bounce. I watched the webcast last week and so I've heard 6 of the tracks live...and I have the single of Everyday...but the rest will be all new to me!!

I honestly couldn't wait until Oct. 8 to get Bounce so I got the Japanese version of Bounce from Rockjems and the singles of Everyday from UK. So, I have all of the bonus tracks too! I also pre-ordered the US version from Amazon.com. I just couldn't wait! I won't say anything to spoil it for you, but the entire CD is awesome with the updated sounds and crunchy guitars and of course, the melodic ballads! You'll love it! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'm interested to know what you think of Lucky? I really love the song yet those that I talk to don't like it....hmmmmm....

I don't recall not liking the song but since I haven't listened to it in almost two weeks since receiving Bounce, let me listen on the way home tonight and I'll give you my opinion after that. Thanks!
