Subject: Denise on "Cosby Show" (Lisa Bonet)
This year (in fact, replayed this week) when there was a "Cosby Show" reunion, "Denise" was absent (and they so slyly avoided her in as many scenes as possible). I think I heard something about her not getting along w/Bill Cosby and not wanting to bother being on w/him, but I don't know. Does anyone know anything about her? Is she having an attitude problem?

I understand that Cosby played father figure to the cast offscreen as well as on, and a number of years ago I remember that he and Lisa Bonet had a falling out because he didn't approve of some of the things she was doing (I think it was over appearing nude in a movie or magazine, but I don't quite remember).
Maybe they're still not getting along.

From what I understand Lisa Bonet did not want to do the Cosby Show reunion because she thought it was just done for money and greed reasons. The last thing I heard about Lisa Bonet was she was married to Lenny Kravitz. Lisa Bonet also did the Cosby spin-off Its A Different World until 1991 I believe. Cosby Show went off the air in 1993 I think.

I heard that Bill wasn't happy that Lisa got pregnant (for Lenny Kravitz,her husband) because it didn't look good for Denise. So they wrote her off the show. Apparently since then they've always had problems because she didn't fit his "mold".

This is how I heard it, too. Especially when she did the movie "Angelheart". He was not impressed with that.

I wonder if they had to sign a contract saying that they would not do anything to tarnish the cosby appeal. I think it was fantastic that she did that because she was growing as an actor and was playing with different aspects of her art. (She was also writting music for Lenny). It's unfortunate that Bill did not "allow" them to do such things. I mean..come on...she was married and she has a life outside the set. Damn him and his selfishness. >:(
